So, we all know what CP got Magnum for his birthday...what is everyone else getting him? I mean, they're giving us a free toothpick of cake and finger of ice cream...
Man, I don't know if I'm going to be able to make it opening day, but the thought of Magnum's birthday party has been cracking me up...
I keep picturing people wearing "Happy Birthday Magnum!" t-shirts, party hats, streamers...people blind-folded, playing "Pin the gum on the new Magnum sign"...and a stand selling "real-sized pieces of Magnum birthday cake" for $9, or $8.10 for Platinum pass holders...
I really want to be there to see this all unfold.
I'm going there opening day!!!111one...
I hope the cake/ice cream portions are fair.
The sign looks reaaalllyyy nice.
I'll sign the banner for it and be there this time.(not for Gemini's last time.)
They do need to re-design magnum's station, everyone crams into the middle of the station and does not see the front areas.
happy anniversary magnum! I like Magnum.

Magnum's station does suck. If you're standing in the control booth, you can see barely half of the train. Then they started putting the ride ops behind columns which is also ultra stupid. I can't say with any certainty that all of this blindness makes the ride less safe, but it still strikes me as a serious design flaw.
Actually, that isn't such a problem because the procedural interlock that Cedar Point used with Magnum (and in fact with most of their coasters) does not require that the booth operator be able to see the entire train at all. The person who needs a clear view of the train is the person standing on the unload side of car #1, because that's the person who was responsible for clearing the train for dispatch. The tower operator was supposed to be looking the other way, watching the previous train crest the second hill.
What is truly stupid is that they moved that key person to the load side behind car #1, and put an electrical interlock on the load side behind the last car, in a position where the attendant standing at the panel can see *nothing* (do you have a photo of that, Jeff?). When they added the co-dispatch button they should have mounted it on the front of the doghouse next to the microphone jack. And if they really needed to put it at the uptrack end of the station, they should have put it on the unload side where the attendant would have an unobstructed view of the entire station.

Does anyone think they need to redo the station now with this new sign?
