Magnum Retracking

This was just a random thought but anyone think It'd be possible to have another company such as Mack or B&M come in and replace Arrows track with their own, while reusing existing supports and layout? The ride as is never seems to draw more than just a station wait whenever I come, and it definitely isn't the smoothest ride I've been on as I usually get off with bruises on my thighs. Even if the ride is re-done but keeps its ejector air-time new restraints such as B&Ms clam shell restraints could help better disperse the impact, plus new track to smooth out the overall bumpy-ness could draw in a bigger crowd sense hyper coasters are usually a big draw at other parks.

Just because there's not a long line does not mean the ride isn't popular.

I wonder what "Chance" we have of this happening...

Don't touch Magnum!

Magnum is a great ride as it is and I dont find it rough or uncomfortable. It has character that the newer coasters dont have. Magnum is my personal favorite at Cedar Point, especially at night.

The only thing I can see Magnum getting is maybe new trains

Sure, it's possible for another company to come in and redo track. The two that jump out at me are Phantom's Revenge at Kennywood and Powder Keg at Silver Dollar City. If any park sees the value in replacing the track, they would probably do it, but so far Cedar Point hasn't seen that in Magnum. Same thing goes with the trains and restraints. But again, the park seems happy with the ride system they have. Most of us around here are very happy with the ride system, too.

As far as there being a station wait, as long as the trains are going out full, hitting interval, and running all three, the length of the queue doesn't matter on the ride's popularity. Plus Magnum's operation is down to a science and they almost always have a good crew there. Probably can't top 2003/04, but they might get close ;)

My advice? If you are experiencing rough rides. Try to stick to cars 3 & 4 in the second row of each. You won't be sitting on top of a wheel, so you won't feel the bumps of the track and transitions. If that lap bar is hurting you, then tighten your seat belt to allow your waist to stop your body from rising up into the lap bar instead of your thighs.

Leave Magnum alone, please.

Right now, don't touch Magnum. Though, in the future (maybe 5-10 years) I could see it needing some attention. The roughness it has right now is part of the great experience it has to offer.

I hope that's not even a remote possibility. I just had my first laps, and many of them, on Leviathan and Behemoth last week and they are phenomenal coasters. I would agree a B&M on par with those would be a great addition, but not at the expense of a great coaster with great history.

Why is it that the threads with the most outlandish ideas always seem to come from people with fewer than 5 posts?

I don't understand why folks feel the need lately to redo every coaster that isn't from the last ten years. Magnum is just fine the way it is. Yes, the difference between riding in row one or two in a car vs row three is literally night and day. I just steer clear of that third row of a car and I always have comfortable and awesome Magnum rides. There is absolutely no need to replace a single piece of track on that coaster.

It's just fine the way it is and there isn't always just a station wait to get on.

Magnum is the single biggest reason I enjoy CP as much as I do. Leave it alone. Not every ride needs to feel like you're riding in a cushy car or bus. It's freaking great the way it is. If you reduce the capacity on Magnum to 800 riders an hour like Maverick or Valravn, it would have a long line too!

Don't ruin a classic Arrow. Magnum wouldn't be as fun if it was smooth as glass.

Yes, leave Magnum alone. It is perfect like it is and just about my favorite ride.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Black&White, you might just want to stick to the carousel or better yet, rent an amigo and drive it along the midway. Then you'll get the smooth ride you so desire.

Yes, Magnum never has a wait because it can hit nearly twice the capacity of other large coasters at CP. Even on the busiest days of the year, you can get on magnum in under 30 minutes. Not because it is unpopular, but because it is a people guzzling capacity machine. They will not touch this arrow masterpiece.

True. Only ever go to CP on weekdays, just got back from a three day trip the other day and saw most of the time the ride sending out only partly full trains.
