Magnum Crew 2003

I was wondering who else is on the crew this year. It will be the best ever that magnum has ever seen

I'm coming back this year to work on the greatest steel coaster ever built and I can't wait! :) We had a pretty good crew in 2001, but there's no reason why this year won't be even better. We should get some riders early in the morning and late at night which should help our numbers. We'll have to kick some major booty so we don't have to open long entrance. Our area of the park will probably be a lot more crowded than in the past few years.

One thing we have to make sure we do this year is crew shirts. We didn't have one in 2001 and it was a little disappointing.

See you in May!

Count me in on the almighty Magnum crew! I'm really psyched to be in such great company :). It's going to be a fun year.

Hey Matt Fown my fav. Camp Snoopy boy! Happy Birthday tomorrow! Now you can actually go to Canada with us! I can't wait to work with you this summer!

Hey Matt D. I have never met you but I have heard awesome things about you!

p.s. not to sound snotty, but no one should really act like they know the ride even if they have been told everything about it. It's totally different when you actually start working it. You should only act like that if you have actually worked the ride before. So like I said not to be snotty or bossy but no one should act like that unless they have worked the ride before.

Well it does come across that way.. if you meant it to or not..

And you'd be surprised how much someone can know about a ride without working it. I've never actually "worked" a ride.. but I bet I know more about 99% of them than the people who DO work them, and not all from my job.

Then you have people like Dave "Rifeman" who can probably swin circles around most ride mechanics and such. Don't judge someone by thier enthusiasm. You might be shocked by the results.

i would like to agree with Katy you don't need to act like you know the ride unless you have worked it already. Because maggie can be a real shocker to you if you have not worked it before its not as easy as it looks. so don't show up and think you know everything about the ride because you might not know everything. Because I thought I knew everything about the ride and i was so wrong in had alot to learn i found out the hard way. Let me tell you!!!!!

In no way shape or form am I directing those comments to anyone that works on Magnum. It's directed to all people that are going to be working new area this season. Heck I've worked Magnum before and I am not acting like I even know everything about that ride cause I don't. And as for the comment that "Miracle that anyone would want to work the crew...", if they don't want to work it cause they are assuming that comments we directed towards them then it's their thing not mine. I have never in no way have discourage anyones enthusiam. I'm excited that people are excited about being on Magnum. And I think that any of us who wasn't enthusiastic maybe shouldn't be on the ride. I think you are forming judgment on people before you even know them. And that's not right, cause then you aer getting ideas in people's heads that maybe should be there.

p.s. Kara- I'm going to send you a picture of what was in our paper...it's a beautiful shot of Shivering Timbers! I thought about you when I saw it and I had to keep reminding my dad not to throw it away!

p.p.s. I'm agreeing with my girl on the crew...sorry Mark but I guess Mean Streak will have to take a close 2nd in the sexiest coaster crew in the park!

I see where both sides are coming from here, but I think that us people that have worked a particular ride should be a little careful as to what we say so we don't have people showing up hating us or thinking we hate them right off the bat. I'm sure there will be more than one or two newcomers to the crew and we should make them feel comfortable. I'm looking forward more than anything to going back this summer. If a good portion of the crew shares the same enthusiasm as me, it's going to be an awesome summer and our crew will be great! :)

I can testify that it is possible to know a great deal about a ride without working it. Someone can come in the first day and know how the platform procedures work, what can and can't get by entrance, maybe even how the controls work or all the spiels. I knew the spiel in 01 before I showed up, but I was still too nervous to do a very good job at it my first day. Yep, Andy made me spiel first day because he had talked to me during the offseason and he knew that I knew my stuff. I'll know my stuff this year too, but it doesn't mean I'm not going to listen to what Katy or Jill say my first day. Stuff has changed since I worked the ride (namely gates and co-dispatch) so I need to make sure I know how that works. I know I talked to Mark a lot last offseason. He went from "what's an intervul?" in the winter to probably being almost trained by the time he showed up. I don't think he showed up and acted like he was invincible though. Same with Kara this year. I love talking to people about Magnum. It's fun passing along your enthusiasm and knowledge for something to someone else. :)

But I'll agree that there are certain things that can't easily be tought by talking on the IMer. Things like how to deal with rude guests, how to deal with or stay out of all the drama that CP might toss your way, how to get along with different types of people on the crew, etc. About the best you can do is warn people of what's to come so they can be prepared to deal with it.

And Matt F, when you said, "let me tell you..." Haha - that reminded me of Shari! OH MY GOD LET ME TELL YOU! :) I talked to her the other night actually and she said she isn't coming back. :(

Anyway, I better get ready for class. I look forward to working with everyone in May! :)

Congrats to everyone who got Magnum I hear it is a fun ride to work on.Hey Katie I thought I was your favorite Camp Snoopy person?<tear, tear> At least this season you won't have to bribe me with candy if you want me to help out on your ride I'll do it free of charge this time ;-)btw with me there Mean Streak is by far the sexiest crew at CP.

There are two questions I hope you never have to ask:
1.Where am I going?
2.And why am I in this handbasket?

Hey Katy! I miss you girl!! What would I have done last season without your candy? I tell ya, just about weekend in the fall when you had candy, I ended the day with a horrible tummy ache. Thanks!

I'm so glad you're gonna be right across the midway from me. You'll have to let me know when you have candy so I can "stock up", hehe.

P.S.- You guys have a long way to go if you're going to try to beat the sexiness of last year's crew... If anyone wants the "Men of Magnum" wall calendar (or, for the occasional CP staff member that likes girls, "Women of Magnum"), let me know. November's treat is me washing the blue train in a speedo and wet white T-shirt...
