It would seem that all mentions of the Starlight Experience have vanished from the CP website. I would assume that is over and done with now.

I'm curious as to how much will be done by opening day. With them saying it starts June 8, is there a chance that midway may be closed to thru traffic for a bit of the season?

Eat 'em up, Tigers, eat 'em up!

I'm sure they'll have the big construction done in time for opening such as the midway path and moving the booths wherever they will go. Then they can just work on the logistics of the lighting and all that without interfering with the guests

"...take a cue from flash mobs who will make surprise appearances throughout the day to give guests a glimpse of what's to come."

"... Enhanced food and beverage stalls surround the plaza and make Luminosity a great place to relax with a snack and drinks."

"...Exclusive V.I.P. seating will also be available in our Pepsi Fan Zone."

This sounds interesting.

^Maybe 3 years ago. Does anyone still care about flash mobs?

I would bet that major midway construction will be done by opening day as to not interfere with the flow of guests. Work can still be done in areas such as the stage while the park is open and lighting projects along with rehearsals would take place at night after the park closes.

Not to be overly pessimistic, but what do you think the over/under for how long Luminosity lasts is?

Or maybe we should call it: "Night time customer retention show 2012".

Depends on what they're flashing :)

I hope it lasts awhile, or at least different variations of the show. The thing that sucks is if this turns out to be a bust, it will only look bad on Cedar Point's Live E Department when they don't really have much to do with it. I kinda wish this was being installed next year so the park themselves had time to produce the show instead of hiring an outside company.

Given the investment, not to mention the guy in charge (who knows a thing or 500 about this sort of thing), I'd say quite a while.

Let's let the CEO run the place for at least a year before questioning his judgement. :)

It sounds really cool, I'm just not a big fan of the stage location. Does anyone know where Iron Dragon's enterance will be relocated to?

I think it's going to be routed around the back of the stage to either the left or the right, but honestly I have no clue :)

I believe the drawing showed it to the left of the stage, right near what is the current exit of Iron Dragon.

I'm not trying to question anyone's judgement. I never would have guessed the midway light show would have lasted this long. I would have guessed 10 years at the most.

These kinds of investments are interesting though, because so much depends on the reaction and performance. A new ride is a long term investment, but things like this and the dinosaurs will be very effected by how well they perform in the first couple years.

Having a stage alongside a midway seems like a useful idea. I would think it will be better than the one that was under the screen.

I think Luminosity will be a long term show. The ability to add different music and different performers will keep the show updated. As the years go on I'm the show will only improve year by year. I don't think this will be like any of the past light shows at the park and will be something that I can see more of Cedar Fair's parks adopting.

11 years.

They added a computer-generated video of what we can expect to the Luminosity page on the website. I'm not sure how I feel about the way its shown in the video. Granted, the video doesn't include Iron Dragon or Wildcat. I'm having a very hard time figuring out how they're going to fit everything in there. Also, form the video it looks like there will be atleast 1, maybe 2, large projection (or LED) screen that would be behind the crowd if they are facing the stage.

During the offseason event, the group was told that Starlight would still be there.

Let's Get Weird.

Glad Starlight is still around. I love that area of the park at night! It is nice to have multiple things to do when the sun goes down!
