"Louie" of Louie's is no more.

Just thought I would pass along to the CP employees who frequent Louie's. Louie passed away Monday June 23, 2003 after a brief illness.

I have shot on the Louie's pool team for many years and was fortunate enough to get to know the man. He was a fun, caring human being who will be greatly missed.

Rest in peace Louie.

Aww! That's sad. I remember him most for always making Kelly and I laugh during the Christmas party with his 'interesting' take on all the employees. I always had a fondness for him as one of the nicest people I met in my brief time at Cedar Point.

Was he still the primary owner and operator of the bar?

DELETED!

I haven't posted here in over a year, but I feel this is a perfect time to post. My random nights at Louie's are some of my fondess memories from working at Cedar Point. Louie was a kind and genuinely nice guy and he will be missed my many. I hope the bar remains open b/c this is ripe burnout season for many employees and they will need Louie's to make it through the summer. But this isn't about a bar, this is about a man (Louis A Muratori Jr.) and if it weren't for his generosity, our CP experience wouldn't have been half the fun or memorable it was. Rest in Peace buddy.

It is sad to see anyone pass away but I am not sure about giving him accolades as a bar owner who allowed minors to drink on a regular basis.
RIP Louie..

TO answer your question Jeff, Yes he was still primary owner, along with his wife Cathy.

I attended the funeral today as I've known him for going on 10 years now. He was a man who cared about people, and thier happiness.

Take care my friend...

P.S. Thanks Walt for posting that.

its sad to see such a nice person pass away. I only met him one time, and I didn't know him that well. He was my relatives Brother-in-law, but I will really miss Louie, and I enjoyed his bar alot when I was working at cedar point. Rest in Peace Louie.

Chief..

Actually, everyone is carded at the door. The bartenders will not sell to someone who is not marked as "high".

The problem lies with the of age people buying drinks then giving them to the underagers. All the bouncers are under orders to pull any drink seen in teh hand of someone marked low. Not trying to justify it but the place does get VERY crowded and it IS hard to check everyone as the night goes on.

I know this year the bouncers have been even harder on the minor. Not only drinks pulled but also escorted out.

Louie always had the "if they are under pull it" rule in effect. It's just how it is enforced by the various people is the problem.

In most college towns, the under-21 crowd simply isn't let in the door after a certain time. It's impossible to expect that a bar staff can monitor all its patrons, even with handstamps. My guess is that if Sandusky's Finest wanted to make an issue of it, they could find a bar at fault for creating a situation in which it was impossible to monitor who was drinking what. At the end of the day, it's the bar's fault if an underage person is drinking on the premises, no matter how s/he got the drink.

I believe the Sandusky PD has conducted raids there in the past. Justified or not, the place certainly has a reputation for underage drinking.

Yes on both accounts Walt..

But I have a feeling things are about to go through a pretty drastic change around there. I don't think Cathy will put up with it..

Very sad to hear that. I don't check these forums very often anymore, but I wanted to comment on this and give my (late) condolences.
