Or worse, go to a two seperate park layout like universal Orlando.
Total ripoff IMO

Just glad we got in free to both.

Anyone else thinking they don't want to have to ride a monorail to their car to get to the cooler?

That'd be great! Turning what would normally be a half hour trip to the car for a sandwich and a beer into an hour or better. Sign me up!!

^ No. I love the idea of having off point parking and having to take a monorail to get to the main off point parking lot. If it works, why not?

There's a free monorail service built to accommodate guests staying at Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, and New York New York in Vegas. Granted, yes those 4 hotel and casinos generate enough revenue to not have to pay to use their monorail to get from each property. However, maybe the fee to park in the off point lot could generate enough revenue to not worry about the cost to run such a monorail from off point to on point. I don't know. I always thought some kind of transportation system would be implemented in the future when the park decides to expand.

I think Cedar Point's goal is to make you want to eat on Point...

Then, one would think they would offer better priced, less-crappy food.

To be fair, there are some bright spots. 6 huge cookies for $6 and double hot dog/brat deals for Platinum holders are both really good deals. Also, the giant elephant ears for $6 can't be beat. Other than that 2%, the other 98% of CP food is either terrible (and I mean terrible), way overpriced or in most cases, both.

It's not free. The costs involved are included, right along with labor costs and facility maintenance and so on and so on, with what those hotel casino resorts charge their guests.

Even if we did buy food in the park there are plenty of reasons to go back to your car. Think of the threads about fanny packs and where to carry things. If my kids complain they are cold I want to be able to just walk to the car for a jacket.

How many regional, seasonal amusement parks have a monorail or similar means of transporting guests to the gate?

Brandon

How many regional, seasonal amusement parks are situated on a peninsula?

How many regional, seasonal amusement parks are located on a peninsula or another location where the parking lot is located in another area where it would even be a plausable?

The point is that there's no pressing need for off-peninsula parking, as the current parking lot is adequate for all but a couple days of the season. Furthermore, there's no need to expand the park into the parking lot, considering CP isn't likely to suddenly see a significant boost in attendance.

On the latest CF conference call Matt O. was quoted saying...

Increased earnings were partially due to "broad improvements in our food and beverage offerings this past year. We look forward to maintaining this momentum and building on these initiatives as we head into 2014"

Seriously? And he said this with a straight face? Now we really have something to look forward to in the next 10 years.

Unless CP plans on relocating the parking lot (highly unlikely), you won't see them constructing monorail track from the main land. There is no need to expand the park to that size. As rides age and reach the end of their life span, they will be replaced with a new attractions.

As I said in another post, if they were to offer offsite parking, it would be budget parking and to help cut down on traffic, not to expand the park. There could be busses that go back and forth at regular intervals to the lot(s). If people wanted to pay more, they could park on point and also Platinum Passes could get on point parking at no charge.

For all the economic support Cedar Fair has generated for the area over the past 100 or so years, the city (or even better, the state of Ohio) should have put in some sort of mass transit by now to service and expand the region so that Cedar Point isn't the only reason most people visit Sandusky.

Why on Earth should the taxpayers of Ohio be expected to build a mass transit system to benefit a private company?

What type of development would state subsidized mass transit brought to Sandusky?

I think parking is adequate the way it is. How many days this year was anyone parked on the grass? Two or three maybe? I wouldn't see the point in any massive investment in more parking and transit systems to get to it. Aside from a little tweaking and expanding here and there around the edges if Cedars comes down I don't see any reason to make the park bigger on any large scale. I think it's pretty much hit the sweet spot right where it is. Making it bigger would not necessarily make it better.

I agree that moving all the parking to the mainland is not feasible, especially in the near future. But inevitably CP wants to expand some, and by that I mean on the peninsula and perhaps more mainland resorts. And that would require more parking options. They've tried the Ferry boat idea off and on in recent years, they could try it again.
