Living in Commons: The good, the bad, the blackout

Moving into commons was awesome. It was my first time being on my own and I couldn't wait.

The good: Being able to meet the friends I will never forget.

The bad: Having to share such a small space with so many people.

The blackout: Hanging out in the dark with some of the coolest people at Cedar Point ever!

The good: Being surrounded by so many different types of people; always something going on. The store.

The bad: Annoying roommates. Last year my roommates were kewl, this year each new set that moved in was worse than the last pair. Having to walk all the way to/home from Bayisde parties...well, it wasn't all that far, but the 800 building can be quite a hike from 1500.

The blackout: Blackout? I don't remember there being one...I was probably at Cedars that night.

Cass

The Good: Hanging outside with everyone.

The Bad: sharing a bathroom with so many girls!

The Blackout: Awesome... got out of work early!
how did you not know about the balck out cat..Even CP went out!

Super Screw Crew 2003

commons was definitely a huge part of the CP experience.

the good: getting to know sooo many people, always somethin goin on in the courtyard, the cute(but sometimes annoying)security guards at the gate

the bad: living in commons having to share a space with 15 other gurls (can u say DRAMA??!!!!!), people outside makin noise at 5 in the mornin when you're tryin to sleep cuz you gotta O-C the next day, livin with foreigners that don't know who you are, so when people call they say you don't live there (my advice for anyone comin next year for their first season....get a cell like what!! if for nothin else to talk to your parents, or you'll be missin calls all over the place)

the blackout: drivin 30 minutes to see if any other towns had power so that we could eat, then realizin that they didn't so myself along with about 20 other (including brain short and raptorboy2003) goin to burger king and dancin in the parkin lot until they opened back up at 10, then it was like a riot to get food. but the best part was that we did get outta work like 5 hours early (how bout that cutback!!!:) )

The good: Getting to know my crew for the season. Thursday Paydays, the fun late-nite eating adventures all over town.

The bad: The heat and then the days of constant rain.

The blackout: I was left in charge of the ride, about 1 hour later, the power goes out. I'm stuck in controls for like 3+ hours with no air conditioning and no communications. But once we did get done, we got to go home early.

And Lauren, how do you spell my name???

MANTIS ROCKS 2002 & 2003

The good: my crew, LOUIES, and all the fun people i met hanging out on the curb

The bad: The foreigners that never know what you are saying, the heat, and really really bad roommates

The blackout: I was on a split and had to back to work an hour after the power went out. On my way in there was complete madness on the causeway, and the guest were really pissed off.

I know this is a few days old, but I have something to say:) OK. so, picture it: the day from HELL. People are pissing me off, I have a ton of things to do, and aaaalllllllll I wanted in the whole wide world was to go down stairs underneath my platform, take my shoes and socks off, rub my feet and eat my snack. That's it. I was hot, hungry, and irritated and that is all i wanted to do. but did it get to happen....no. why? well....see i made it down stairs, had my food almost to my mouth and was about to untie my shoes when I heard the lift go off.

I thought that it was just a normal power bump and then the lights down stairs flickered and then just shut off. I was like, awwwwww man. so I run upstairs and spent the next god knows how long trying to keep guests from climbing out; my crew and ATL started giving out water to people and in the mean time I'm trying to keep this woman from having a panic attack b/c she is claustrophobic......and after all was said and done, I still did not get to rub my feet. LOL It's funny now but at the time it was adding to my irritability. I think that everyone did a great job handling things that day, but I hope that Inever have to do it again.

the good: lots and lots of interesting people, and the commons store. having such a convienent store, is pure luxury compared to having to drive to the nearest gas station living on your own.

the bad: freakin water pressure! thats all i'm saying.

as far as the blackout, there was 2

the "big" one: i was at work till power came back on so i didn't get to see commons.

the one during like the last week: now that was fun, going crazy around the BBQ pit, poeple running around in halloween mask. good times, good times.

dragster photo 2003

The good: meeting everyone and making new friends, stayin up all night watchin movies, pudding fights(haha), working with the best crew :).

The bad: at one point I had a really really odd roomate! very scary! lol... hearing all the drunk people coming in from louie's at 2am screaming at the top of their lungs while trying to sleep.

the "major" blackout: sitting at raptor waiting for people to come ask us questions. No one asked us questions..though I had a guy come up to me to ask if he could have a chili dog. weird. That was really the only question i got.. The raptor crew got to go home before we did! haha...once that happened we knew we were on our way out! :). Oh yeah, and I was actually tested to see if I knew my top 10 coasters by some guests! lol! that was interesting! got myself a history lesson on coasters with that one.

Hi Ryan!

2003 - TL at Raptor photos!
(First year)

The Good: Not having a roommate for 5 months out of the season.... definitely good.

The Bad: THOSE DAMN FIRE ALARMS....especially the time it went off 4 times in one night.

The (Major) Blackout: Playing Survivor Friday's and turning people away for water because our sewage systems were backed up. The mini black out was even better. The people were definitely going crazy around the bbq pit and we all played a rousing game of flashlight tag through the apartments. Oh and you have to remember the idiots who go trapsing through the 1500 building scaring the crap out of people, haha!

Blackout? There has been way more than 1 person to black out at Commons.

"You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place in the world...but it requires people to make the dreams a reality."

the good: sitting outside in the warm weather, going from room to room w/ friends and coming back from louie's hoping the guards dont pull your badge.

the bad: the beds were uncomfortable, make sure you get padding for your bed, it helps, and loud roomates when you just worked a 14-16 hour day and all you want is sleep.

the big power outage was great, left work early, raptor_hooker and I went driving all over to find a place to eat, stopping at the gas station and asking people if cedar point had reopened after the pwer went on, and dancing in the bk lot waiting for them to open.

The GOOD: meeting all my friends for life, hanging out for late hours, PAY DAY, the weather, TTD, ALL the rollercoasters!

The BAD: the foreigners, girls that cant keep a community bathroom clean, our neighbors, the slow computers with the dials

The BLACKOUT: Being stuck in the Cleveland airport waiting for my departing flight when everything went black

The good: Somehow I ended up with the exact same apt./bedroom as my first season -- random! Most of my roommates were awesome and became great friends, my crew was unbelievably cool and I FINALLY had a car at CP.

The bad: Sandusky library was closed for half the summer (blaaah), people who don't know how to clean an apartment (throw your **** empty food wrappers out, people!!), one of my best CP friends for three years left CP for good in the middle of the summer.

The blackout: Missed that one completely. I was already at school, doing the RA thing. Or is this referring to some of my drunken roommates? ^_~

"The greatest leaders don't take credit for their actions; they don't have to."

The Good: crazy silly stupid drunken naked sloppy nonspecific-gendered loud stinky roommates, friendly guests, angry guests, easy work, cheap beer, Paddlewheel uniforms, sharing a bathroom with so many girls, Put-In-Bay, open minded employees, using the Louie's restroom

The Bad: quiet dull roommates, no guests, overpriced beer, ride op shorts, sharing a bathroom with so many guys, Diana's Deli, employees thinking they are far more important than they actually are, using Schwabinchen

The Black Out: If you only experienced one, you didn't make the most out of your time at CP

The Good- Making all the great friends and living so close to them. I love you guys won't ever forget the great times and the fact that my room mate was my best friend so i got along great with my room mate.

The Bad- Public Showers. I hated walking form the my room to the showers and having to always take your bath room stuff in a tot.

The Balck Out- Well i was on a split that day and i remeber walking down the hall thinking it was very very dark and then relizing i never took my sun glasses off so it wasn't that dark. And I had to go back to work where of course my ride still was running (turnpike cars) talk about crappy.

The good: Getting to move over to bayside midseason. And of course the blackout was awsome.

The bad: 1004 and all my other roommates that lived there and took advantage of the 42" television, and of course that stupid thunderstorm.
