Mantis has always been one of the worst lines to wait in. I'm not sure why, maybe because it is over the lagoon and the ride is so loud.

I remember waiting in really long lines for Avalanche Run and Means Streak when they first opened. Which breaks up a side point: I really dislike when the queue is placed in the middle of the ride itself. After watching trains run their coarse for over an hour, you feel like you have already ridden and there are no surprises. I much prefer queues like Magnums's (or the Beast at KI), where all you see is the lift hill and the rest is a mystery.
^ I agree to an extent. The only thing is, it doesn't take up any room at all when the queues are built in the middle of the ride. For Magnum's queues, there could be a flat ride of some sort built right in there, had there been room to build their queues somewhere in the middle of the ride (granted there is no room because of Soak City, the hotel entrance, the photo booth, etc....Just an example)
Yes I do remember the old screen, which is currently rotting under the covering infested with cobwebs. If I remember it showed about the coaster and the rules and ride instructions. But then that is when CP brainwashed us with Love Shack video every 15 minutes it seemed. But it killed the time.
Speaking of moving entrances for Mantis. I'm pretty sure it had 3 different ones. The first year or so with the train crossing which you can still see. Another one without using the train crossing and the current one.

O yeah, When Mantis first opened its entrance was located directly across from ML and on the same side as ML, it had its own little train crossing. I believe it was reconfigured to what it is now in 2000.
What exactly is ML? I'm pretty sure I know what you mean, but since you used twice in the same sentence I'm not so sure.
Speaking of lines, how can we forget the inaugural year of Disaster Transport?
Best part of the ride.

MF is what I meant to put. I have been running with an average of 2 hours of sleep for several days now. I noticed some of my posts were just plain odd at times. I edited a few because I noticed random words I just typed without even knowing it.
It wouldn't be very Negligent of me to spell my name correctly.
Hmmm...is it appropriate to refer to a recorded music entertainer as a "DJ" when he is being forced to play music from cassette tapes?
That had to be pretty awful, even if the decks did have a music search feature.

I agree, it is one of the worst lines to wait in. Then add the fact that you just stood in a 1 and 1/2 hour line to stand up on a ride. Personally, I like being able to sit down on the rides after standing that long :D
I've always thought Dragster's line to be the worst line to wait in. You're enclosed by walls on either side and air doesn't move in there when it's hot. I've never minded Mantis' line.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
I agree that Mantis is probably the worst line to wait in. Mantis's line takes forever and after watching it for 30 min, I feel like ive already ridden it.I do have to say my favorite line to wait in Coaster wise is Maverick because of all the shade. My favorite non coaster line would have to be Windseeker, that line moves very fast and there's always a nice breeze. Also it's nice to be close to the beach and it's not very busy on that side of the park. It's pretty quiet
Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!
Maverick is also my favorite line to wait in with the shade. I miss the music though.
If Disaster Transport still used its old door and the AC stayed in the building, then that would be my favorite. With the crappy side entrance all the AC goes out and it feels like an oven.

Oh my, how things change -- Lines for the Paddle Wheel Excursion used to fill up the entire ques under the roof at the entrance in the late 70's - Can't remember the last time I saw a line up there.
Corkscrew - 1976 - who cared how long was, best ride around at the time......there are lots of clues around CP about how long lines used to be or were anticipated to be - take the time to look around
You still see folks waiting around for pix in the pillary on frontier trail - looks like that may last forever
