One thing you could do if you don't really want to call CP police is just "pretend" to. That might get the line jumpers out...but maybe not.
Canada's Wonderland has ZERO tolerance for line jumpers. I witnessed (and helped) a guy get busted for it a week or so ago. Sure, he was mad...as security was escorting him out of the line, people were clapping and he was walking by a group of people and accused one guy of telling. Oh well, just don't line jump!
Last summer I was on Liquid Lightning at GL and 2 young teens were cutting through to the TOP to catch up with parents. I made a HUGE scene and told the ride op at the top of the line. Dad told me that they were his kids and they wanted to ride together. I screamed out, "That doesn't matter...you're not allowed to line jump here!!!!" When it was their turn to ride, the ride host just had some words with them but ended up letting them ride. Totally NOT fair.
I'd like that number for CP police as well!!
last year while in line for raptor we had smokers right behind us. My wifes friend and I can not stand cigarette smoke and causes us breathing problems, they were asked to put it out and woule not. So to help us out my brother stayed back about 10 feet or so to keep them farther away from the rest of us. After getting off the coaster my brother told me they were threating him bodily harm and asked at the photo both if the police would take care of them and had the police called. After talking with the officers we found out that since they did not witness the situation or the smokeing the could not do anything and just gave the folks a warning.... so i guess even if you do call the the cp police, if they dont see the smokers actually in the act there is nothing they can do.
Just to clarify,
It is NOT considered line jumping if you or one of your party stops in line to get something to drink or eat from the in-line vending machines and returns back to the rest of the group, no matter how far the line has moved.

Our line jumping policy states that if you cut into a line of waiting guests, no matter what the reason, you are inviting dismissal from the park without refund of admission. This rule is strictly enforced. LINE JUMPING IS: “CUTTING IN FRONT OF OTHER WAITING GUESTS. LEAVING THE LINE, THEN ATTEMPTING TO REENTER. THIS INCLUDES USING THE REST ROOM FACILITIES OR TO PURCHASE FOOD OR DRINKS.” Once you leave your place in line, you have forfeited it, no matter what the reason. Saving a place in line is simply not permitted.
Stopping to purchase food or drinks is distinctly called out as line-jumping. You can re-enter the line AT THAT POINT, as you aren't cutting in front of people that were already behind you. But to jump back in front of the people who passed you IS cutting.

Technically it is line jumping, as stated above. But if the line has only moved like half of one row of turnstiles, I don't think that many people would mind.

Here's my take, though. It seems as though they are saying that, if you completely leave the queue and go to a food stand outside the ride area, then you may not return to your spot in line. They're definition does not include using the snack machines, which I would hardly call food, and the soda machines.
Based on the fact that it says that line jumping includes "using the rest room facilities" and "to purchase food or drinks" in the same sentence, though, I am led to believe that they mean actually leaving the queue.
Also, it says, and I quote, "Line jumping is ... leaving the line, then attempting to reenter." There isn't a definition of reentering the line, but I don't consider it to be exactly leaving the line if you are stopping at the machines that are in line.
I could be wrong, but the definition is slightly vague for my taste. It doesn't say anything explicitly about the in-line machines, but instead just "food or drinks" and reentering the line.
Jugga,
What you quoted does not state using in-line facilities.
Furthermore, it was announced in the MF queue line by the CP DJ that it was okay to re-join your group if you purchased something in line, and I've seen several ride-ops support this.
Now, unless they're looking to be fired, which I doubt, then it is clearly not against the rules.

Why not just have your friends/family wait with you and then re-enter the line as a group where the vending machines are?
Then you wouldn't have to worry about the loopholes in the definition of line jumping. You would loose about 2 min. of your time. Big whoop!
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Best thing to do in this case (when you buy from in line vending machines) is to ASK the person or people in front of you if they mind if you join the rest of your group up ahead.
Don't just cut, ASK.
I am usually nice about it if someone asks, but if you cut in front of me, then...watch out!!!
I recently went to Six Flags Great America on a Saturday and got a Flash Pass, which basically lets you get to (near) the front of the line. We waited 5-10 minutes for all of the big roller coasters. I admit, the short wait was really nice, but if I was someone else in the line, I wouldn't be too happy about the program. I'd rather just have equal waits for everyone, like at CP.

Dvo, this isn't a thread about park-sanctioned line jumping, so please don't take it off that track which we all love to discuss so much.
As far as stopping at vending machines and then catching up with your group, it IS line jumping. That's no different than your group entering the line and you entering 3 minutes later and "catching up with them". It's line jumping. You left your place in the queue and are trying to get back to it. Regardless if CP specifically calls out vending machines in their policy, they do say if you leave your spot, you forfeit it. To get a water, you LEAVE YOUR PLACE in the queue and have to get back to it. Plain and simple, that's line jumping.
I don't usually call people out for that, but if they farted around at the machine for like 5-10 minutes (not taking their money, etc...), then they're not getting back in line.
I'm really not sure why more people don't call out the line jumpers. I mean, if I call someone out, a "loud discussion" erupts, and the person finally leaves, people usually clap or something. But, those same people let the line jumper walk right past them. It doesn't make any sense to me.
As far as what the park does about it? I've never seen CP do anything about a line jumper. But, that's not to say they don't. I really wish they backed up all their signs though and actually ejected people from the park without a refund. Then maybe less people would do it.
AMEN to that!!!!
I'm not afraid to call out line jumpers. A few years back my mom actually got in an argument with some of them in the Raptor line. My sister, while she is not a prejugdice person, kept on hushing my mom up because she was afraid they were gang-type and would follow us around in the park.
Last week when I was at Canada's Wonderland, a group of 4 line jumpers stepped in front of us in the line for Sledgehammer. I shouted out: "Hey you just cut in front of ALL of us!" The guy (he was a big guy, too) ignored me...but I kept on giving him the stink eye and I would have told the ride host if we wouldn't have all gotten on at the same time.
I don't care what race or color you are, if cut in front of me, I am telling on you if it prevents me from getting on a couple of minutes sooner.
