Line Jumping

What do you do if someone is trying to jump the line? What should you do if someone is trying to jump the line? I hate it when waiting in line for a ride and some 6 year old kid wants past to meet his buddies.. I just want to like block the lane but not sure if you are even allowed to do that.. If you leave line to report the said person you then lose your spot in line so either way you lose....

I've been known to just block the way and not let them past. usually whoever I am with will stand next to me and we just won't let them pass. Most of the time it is Junior / High school students and this works. When the group in front of me sees what is going on they join in. Use good judgment as there has been a lot of conversation on here about people getting beat up in line trying to prevent line jumping.

The way I see it, one more person isn't going to make me wait a whole lot longer than I already would have. It's not worth the conflict and/or headache of preventing it if it's only one person. I've never really had to deal with an entire group of people line jumping, just one person here and there catching up with their group.

I was actually in line for magnum and 4 girls in bikini tops decided to jump in the old fast lane line. There was only a 20 min wait but i happened to be in front of them. When i got up to the ride host i let him know who they were and what they did and he promptly told them to leave the line when they got to the turnstile. I know it probably was not right for me to do that, but i am way against line jumping.

No, it was completely right to do what you did. If those girls get away with that in one line, they'll keep on doing it.

I agree.. It's not worth it.. Well maybe if I was waiting in line for TTD for a couple of hours. Then I would maybe say something.

I will normally let a parent or a kid catch up to their family. It isn't going to make my wait any longer. But when there's a group of friends together and they act like they are trying to catch up with their group, I don't believe them.

I dont care if it is one person just getting a drink from vending. Anymore it makes me mad!

coolkid - as has been discussed in previous line jumping threads (and commented on by the park), stopping at the vending machines is perfectly acceptable and catching up to your group is not line jumping. Leaving the line to go to the bathroom and/or concession stand and trying to return IS however line jumping.

I never though using a vending machine inside the queue was line jumping at all. Besides, you should be able to recognize that you just walked past that person 30 seconds ago.

Summer was made for a Cedar Point day~

Edit 2: Smoking in line how would you handle this one as well.. I am going to school for respiratory therapy and i would say something to the line leader or something..

Edit : Both scenarios that you described are actually considered line jumping by the park.

Our line jumping policy states that if you cut into a line ofwaiting guests, no matter what the reason, you are inviting dismissalfrom the park without refund of admission. This rule is strictlyenforced. LINE JUMPING IS: “CUTTING IN FRONT OF OTHER WAITINGGUESTS. LEAVING THE LINE, THEN ATTEMPTING TO REENTER. THIS INCLUDESUSING THE REST ROOM FACILITIES OR TO PURCHASE FOOD OR DRINKS.Once you leave your place in line, you have forfeited it, no matterwhat the reason. Saving a place in line is simply not permitted.

As a former ride op with a pretty decent amount of experience with line jumpers, let me clear this up a little bit. :)

As was already mentioned, stopping at/going back to a vending machine IN THE LINE is NOT line jumping. I repeat, that is NOT line jumping (your personal opinions aside). Leaving the line, for whatever reason, and attempting to re-enter at the same spot IS line jumping. The basics of the rule are these: If you are in line and stay in the line confines to get food, you are not line jumping. If you leave the line and attempt to re-enter you ARE line jumping. If you are attempting to enter the line and join up with your group anywhere beyond the entrance of the line, that is line jumping.

That is per training, manuals, and straight from supervision/management during my two previous seasons. In other words, that's the Line Jumping Gospel, the Way, the Truth, and the...okay, I'll stop. ;)

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Well if only one person breaks into your house, he can't steal the computer and the tv and the stero all at once so why bother stopping him? He's only doing something wrong if he is doing it with a group right?

Girl: "l want to ride that yellow one again... Twisted Wicker"
Me: "It's a roller coaster, not a broken clothes hamper."

Well that was not my personal opinion that was taken right from cedar points website.

Also i think that if you leave to get a drink at a drink machine that is right next to you that is ok. however going back to one that is at the begining of the line would constitute jumping to me.

I got to line jump once on Millenium force and Top Thrill Dragster, but it was only because we were stuck on Wicked Twister for 35 minutes and we didnt go through the entrance, we went through the exit.

It's not line jumping when you are given an exit pass.

That may be what you think, but it is, in fact, not line jumping according to park policies. The vending machines are in the line, so no matter how far away from the vending machines you are as long as you do not leave the actual line, there is no line jumping occurring.

My girlfriend and I were in line to ride Cedar Creek Mine Ride, and when the train we should have boarded was accepting passengers a young boy ran from row 3 and entered the seats in row 1 that we had waited for. We couldn't believe it, and everyone around us asked why we didn't make a big deal about it. WE WERE PISSED, but we were still next in line on a smaller ride. The kid knew what he did cause he would not make eye contact with us when he sat down and when the train returned since they were only running one train at the time. I cannot stand line jumping. It is a constant reminder of how ethics have dissapeared in our current lifestyle. I really do not care how old a line jumper is they should be removed from the premises. The parents should accompany the line jumper and teach them a lesson if necessary. If the parents feel like its not wrong then we all know where the kid gets it from.

We were in a long line for Wildcat a Saturday afternoon 2 weeks ago , and there were 3 girls together directly in front of us. A 4th girl climbed over the rail and passed a bunch of people to join her friends. No one said anything to her until it was their turn to ride, and the ride operator informed the line jumping girl that she would not be permitted to ride.

She and her friends complained that it wasn't really line jumping since they were all riding in the same car anyway, and no one would be made to wait any longer because they were still going to be in the same car whether they were 3 people or 4. They argued for awhile but the ride operator still made her leave.

Please remain in your seat until the ride comes to a complete and final stop.

I hate line jumping. I really hate the "my family is up there" excuse. hmmm...I guess your family should have waited for you then huh?? We were in line for the Millennium last weekend a girl and guy came up behind us with the "excuse us, our family is up there." then just pushed their way past. Hind-sight is always 20/20 but next time I'll be prepared. We had the idea afterwards, of course, to hand our cell phone to the next person who tries that and tell them they may borrow it to call their family so they can meet them in the back of the line.
