Line Funnies

maybe you were so serious.

The sign for ride wait at Disaster Transport said "1/4 hour" wait. The kid behind us said that 1/4 hour is 25 minutes to his buddy. I hoped this kid was kidding, but no. Where and how is this stuff being learned?

Our awesome public education system.

In line for DT someone said that it was just like Space Mountain to their friend. I thought to myself, boy will they be dissapointed.

I like pancakes.

What? Who's stalking who?

Have you ever ridden Space Mountain?

Here's a few of my personal favorites:

"Hey, how much does that free thing cost?" (referring to Freeway)

Then, just a few nights ago, I was asked:
"Does this go upside down? I don't wanna spill my beer!"

In the line for Behemoth at Canada's Wonderland I lost count of the amount of people who said it was the highest roller coaster in the world. Pretty painful to hear.

I'm going out to get some air.

In 3rd grade my mom was late picking me up. My teacher came up to me and said, "If she is not here by quarter after, come and get me." I assumed that quarter after was 25 minutes after. But I wasn't too sure. I was hoping that my mom would get there soon, so my teacher wouldn't come back and find out that I didn't know what quarter after was.

When my mom got there I asked her, and she said that it was 15 minutes after the hour. I learned this in 3rd grade. And there are still idiots who think it is 25 minutes after? That's just too funny.

I don't think its a matter of stupidity so much as association. How much is a quarter of a dollar? 25 cents. I think most people just tend to associate the 2 since they're both common.

A quarter is 1/4 of something, AKA 25% - There's an extra step in there the convert 25% of 60 minutes to 15, and amidst a day of fun, excitement, and spending, I just think people leave out that step.

I know this is nothing an idiotic guest said but Chris and Holly from Maverick have some pretty funny jokes. "Steepiest" always makes me chuckle. And Holly's "95 degree drop...3 more degrees and you would have a boy band" get a good laugh from the line.

These are all in refernce to Terror Island...

"Do I get wet on this ride?"

"So it's a walkthrough?".."yes"..."Well how many times does it go upside down?"

"Does this place have pirates in it?" This was asked to me, while I'm in full pirate attire and have just said to a large group about the island being inhabited by pirates.

"Is this the line for Millenium Force?"

"Where is Dragster at?" Granted I am right outside the entrance and Dragster is literally 20 feet in front of me....

"What is this?" I get asked this alot, while I'm standing by the sign that says Terror Island...so I repy, it's a word. Get it? THIS is a word.

"Do we have to swim to the island?"

11 years.

That Terror Island stuff is wicked funny!!

This wasn't in line, it was while I was working.

*Points at Gemini* "Oh, I get it. That coaster is a continuation of that (*points at Mean Streak*) one over there!"

In line for Maverick:

Kid 1: "I wish I worked here, I could test ride this every morning."

Kid 2: "Nuh uh, they test it to see if it will fall off the track!"

Kid 1: "Nah, it's safe. It stays on the track like 9 out of 10 times."

That kind of stuff is what makes the yearly CP trip fun for kids. Remember the ol' saying "ignorance is bliss"? I'm starting to hold that true in a lot of things. I remember the years where I was so excited to go to CP that I couldn't sleep the night before.

Now it's a regular hangout, and I just don't "get" the whole "GEEPEE stupidity" deal. I mean, when I go rock climbing or shooting, I don't snicker about things people say of the facts that they mis-quote - so long as they're having a good time, what does it matter??

^^ Sadly our book of funny quotes from the summer at Ripcord has gone missing I think. There were some real gems in there.

If you're familiar with King's Island... I used to work at the Emporium, which is the giant store on the left side of International Street. And I kid you not, I got asked at least once a week where the Eiffel Tower was.

"Uh ... walk outside and look up. Can't miss it."

I got asked where the Dragster was by two girls when I was in line for MF. I pointed at it and said "over there." And they had a very 'duh' look on their face.

While in line for Magnum, a young boy and his little sister were in line in front of me. She was just barely tall enough for it and was obviously scared and asked him how many times it goes upside down. His relpy "oh, twelve or thirteen times, I think." I was cracking up but I think she was about to cry.

I guess it is a good thing I don't get to go to CP that often. Because it is still that way for me. :)

I know what you mean Jesz. I remember the first trip that I went to CP and didn't feel that usual excitement. That trip didn't feel the same for me. Now like Josh said, it's just a usual hangout. I love going, but I still don't feel the was I used to the first couple of years.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

I have to admit I found Kings Island challenging. I obviously knew where the tower was but with all that folliage I had a heck of a time finding the beast.

I'm going out to get some air.

^The Diamondback construction makes it harder this year too. When the ride first opened they spray painted Beast tracks from the tower back to the Beast to help the crowds know where to go.

KI is not that hard though when you just look at what it is, with the exception of Boomerang Bay its very similar to the Disney cog and wheel design, with one small difference instead of the "hub" (the area from which all other areas branch off of) being a small courtyard in front of the castle, the "hub" at KI is all of I-street, to get from one area to another you have a choice, you can either walk along the outer rim (Action Zone-Oktoberfest-Coney Mall-Rivertown-Nick U) or you can cut through I-street (which once Diamondback is finished you will once again be able to get to from any other themed area.)

Last night in line for Power Tower this is a convo between 3 girls from Miami (of Ohio).

One Girl: Last year this ride cut off a girl's foot.

Another Girl: Oh my gosh are you serious? Why the heck are we in line for it then?

OG: Because it happened when this ride was in Canada. After it broke they sent it here and they say its safer.

AG: They moved this from Canada?

OG: Yeah except they added the drop side.

This amazed me since the ride in KK actually was a drop ride. People are crazy.
