Lighthouse Point Weekend-Sept 10,11, & 12

Wow! What a weekend! Totally sunny for all 3 days with temps in the 70's.

A lot of thought was put into chosing that weekend: It's after Labor Day, kids are back in school, Halloweekends begins in a couple of weeks. Could it be the park may not be busy?

Our longest wait Friday evening was for Dragster. 12 minutes. Yep! 12 whole minutes! We took multiple rides, including my first front seat ride. The next longest wait was for MF. 9 minutes! Raptor was a front seat WALK-ON! Everything else was either a walk-on or a 1 train wait. Maggie's trains were hardly ever full.

Saturday was a bit busier, but not that bad. We had a 30 minute MF wait...and that was about the longest. Got a Saturday evening Dragster ride after a 20 minute wait. Last ride of the night was MF after park hours, in the dark. It was awesome!

Sunday morning, we headed over at 9:30am and I could not believe my eyes. Dragster was a walk-on. I took my last car seat (still out of breath from huffing it through the que) and was off! Unfortunatly, Dragster then began getting fussy and had problems the rest of the morning. It ran great in the afternoon, but I left the park for home at noon. My brother and his family got to ride it again in the afternoon after a 15 minute wait. He's lucky to live 2 hours closer to the park than this West Michigander.

Other Highlights:

Lighthouse Point. I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is the ABSOLUTE best way to enjoy Cedar Point! I've stayed in Sandusky every way possible (including the other CP resort hotels), and Lighthouse Point wins, hands down. Some say it's too expensive, but I disagree. You save a ton of money on food and drink. I enjoyed the home made sloppy joes, the home made BLT's, and the charcoal grilled, marrinated chicken breats. Far better food than the crap you get in the park or in their hotels. And at a fraction of the cost. Oh, and the drinks? 3 beers (we had 3 adults) at CP: 18 bucks and change. 3 beers brought with you to Lighthouse Point: 2 bucks and change. I'll not even get into the cost of the Martinis (which you can only get at Bubbles on Point, BTW)

Feeding the Sky-Rats. And those seagulls acted starved after a week of nobody being in the park! We sat on the deck of our cottage and played catch (using spicey hot pork rinds). Mid air catch, that is. The kids had a ball and the birds got fed. People from other cottages were taking pictures. We had at least 30 gulls in the air (over our heads--but no pooping, please). At one point, I got the idea to throw up a sloppy joe bun. Nothing hit the ground, but crumbs. The mid air battle was very fun to watch!

Other Lowlights:

Only one, really. Wicked Twister was down the whole weekend. A park employee said that it would probably be down the rest of the season. I guess a major electrical part broke. I missed my twist :( There were other frustrating things that happened that go with visiting CP with a couple of 10-13 year old nieces (and your little brother and his wife), but nothing that dampered the trip, for sure.

This was the best trip that I have EVER had to Cedar Point. May &/or September at Lighthouse Point, folks. You just can't beat it!

Is it May, yet? :)

Sounds like you had fun. I've always wanted to stay at Lighthouse Point. But every year I stay at the point, I just go to Hotel Breakers because of it being right on the beach and being very conviniently located.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

That is the same advantage that Lighthose Point offers! Heck, the free shuttle service will haul your butt to any entrance that you want. AND pick you up at the end of your day. HB and LP are almost right next to each other. Soak City is between them. Try Lighthouse Point. You'll rarely do Hotel Breakers again.

An important thing (at least to me) that I forgot to mention was my FIRST trimless ride on Magnum. Yes, it was a night ride, cool temps and the most insane Magnum ride that I have EVER been on. What a treat! :)

Martinis (which you can only get at Bubbles on Point, BTW)

Not quite. You can get a reasonably-priced one at Breakwater's bar. I'd bet that you can also get a not-so-reasonably-priced one at Bay Harbor, with Friday's and Dave's filling the price gap between the two outliers.

I was so excited to see this!!! Thanks for sharing about your long weekend at LP!!!

We were leaning toward staying there next trip, but now I think I'm absolutely sold on the idea!!!

That's what those little buses are for...Yeah I guess moving around wouldn't be that bad, maybe I'll give Lighthouse Point a whirl. And yes, trimless ride at night on Magnum is the best, uncomparable.
