We arrived at the Reservation desk around 1 in the afternoon on Friday and were informed that our cottage would not be ready until 3. Not a problem. Park the van and head to the park. Friday was very pleaseant weatherwise, except for the wind.
Saturday (at that time) looked like the day to ride. Rain in the morning, clearing in the afternoon. High of 63. Me, my brother & sister-in-law talked the kids (Dani, 10 years old and ready to ride TTD for the first time and Brittany, 13 years old) into waiting until Saturday to ride Dragster. The lines would be shorter (due to the yucky weather on the way) and we'd have all day to hit it. They didn't like that idea, but we stuck to it.
The high of 63 for for Saturday WAS reached. At midnight Friday night/Saturday morning.
We spent a COLD morning in the park Saturday! Headed back to the cottage for lunch at 1:00. By 2:30, we were back in the park. Dragster started it's trial runs and we headed for the grandstands. We ended up waiting (once in the que) 35-40 minutes. It was a great ride and Dani was hooked. We enjoyed the park from then on out until dinner (Ohmaha Steaks cooked over Charcoal). Charcoal grilling was a challenge with the wind! The college-aged group staying in the cottage next to us had problems. They were cooking burgers and stiring the coals with the SAME spatula that they were flipping the burgers with! They ended up eating burgers that resembled hockey pucks.
At 9:45pm I suggested heading over to Dragster to get in line for a possible last train of the night. We almost got it, but ended up on the 4th last train out. That was my first night ride on Dragster. Easier than the daytime trips, but maybe the Rum had something to do with that...
;)
At midnight, my brother and I were outside getting night shots with his camera. The next morning was painfull.
Back in the park Sunday morning at 9:00 at Donut Time. Ouch.
The Starbucks addition is awesome, the donuts are, well, donuts. I appreciated the QUALITY coffee more than anything.
The rest of Sunday was spent with the kids and sister-in-law riding and the brothers walking around the park, looking for great shots (he has 5 G's in a still digital camera & lenses).
It was (as usaual) a great time at that special place we all know as Cedar Point.
