Lighthouse Point Expansion Underway

Minor point, but Breakers East is 4 stories tall, not 3.

I don't ever see a beach at the new Lighthouse Point expansion. Erosion worries aside, that part of the Point is too close to the shipping channel going into Sandusky Bay. You have tons of private and commercial traffic that would be too close to the swimmers.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Figured I'd post this here - how fast does Lighthouse fill? I went online to check and see if the weekend I might be working scream teams would be open and there wasn't a thing! I guess the rest of this year is out, but is Lighthouse something I'd have to reserve a few weeks in advance or a "hey let's go to CP for the weekend!"

I think aesthetics of a Sandcastle Suites 'tower' addition would be most important to the guests staying there. Would you want to pay top dollar to stay at a place that looked like Beirut? I would expect a little more elegance and subtlety in Sandcastle than in Breakers. Frankly, I expected more out of Breakers tower, as well.

Impulsive-Ive,

Put it this way: We were lucky enough to get a cottage on lighthouse point close to the end of May. Upon checkout, there were people in the registration office trying to make reservations and I overheard the person behind the counter saying that they were already booked through September.

Also, I was at the concierage at Breakers during Labor Day weekend and the lady was telling me that Lighthouse Point was already starting to fill up for next season. She said that Memorial and July 4th weekends were already completely booked along with many weekends during their peak season. She urged me to make reservations soon before next season is sold out.

Edit: Typo

Beirut? You mean the home of some of the most beautiful buildings in the world? i.e.

I assume you are referring to the parts of the city damaged by their civil war. Prior to that, of course, Beirut was the "Arab Riviera", one of the jet-setting capitals of the world.

Having said that, I will agree Arabic/Islamic architecture, though breathtakingly gorgeous, would look slightly out of place at Cedar Point.

Yes, I was referring the stark, monolithic concrete structures shown on the news during their civil war.

You know what would look cool? Something along the lines of Hotel del Coronado in San Diego. It has a similar piece of real estate to Sandcastle and they can charge 1200 bucks a night...hehe, that's not going to happen, but it's a cool place.

That's quite a coincidence. I was just watching - minutes ago -the great 1980 film "The Stunt Man", set at the Hotel del Coronado, and thinking what a beautiful resort hotel that is ...

After riding Magnum yesterday and looking out to the left, it looks as though "Circle A" of Camper Village will be no more. Unfortunately, it also looks like nearly every tree that was part of it is also gone. Who can blame CP for putting in more cabins and cottages? I'm sure they generate much more revenue than a campsite. I just wish they didn't find it necessary to rip out every tree in order to do so. Even if they are replaced with new trees, it will take years before they look anything like the ones that were taken out.

I knew they were taking one side of Camper Village. I just wonder how long the B side will remain there. I hope it stays there especially because it is a relatively cheap way to stay on point. Families can stay there without breaking the bank.

...and the most anticipated event of summer 2003 is...

The Matrix: Reloaded!

I suspect some campsites will be replaced with the new, full hookups you see in the Lighthouse Point area. Cable, water, electric, sewer, those kinds of amenities.
