Lighthouse point cabins?

I'm going to be in one for season 08 trip one. Any bad things about them? Or good things - other than having a nice cabin to yourself. I'm going to be staying at the cabin for 3 nights, with the platinum pass so i'll be going everywhere. I have yet to plan out what im going to do each day. Anyway thats off topic.. I want to know pros and cons about cabins. And if they're really a good bargain for CP. Two years ago I was in Breakers Express and everything smelled like damp cloth! Whats up with that? Good thing about Express is their's a pool in the back which you can swim in when you get back from CP. I think the cabin will be nice for what I want to do at CP, considering I didnt get to go last season, so I never rode Maverick. I'm so happy were going for 4 days.. woo. Platinum pass.. cabin.. 4 days.. :D Best trip ever for me. Anyway cabin loath or love?

Cedar Point is undoubtedly amazing.

I have rarely read about any downsides to the cabins on these boards. I've stayed in a cabin a couple times and in a cottage twice. Cabins have a bedroom with a double bed, the living room with two foutons, and the loft where you can put an air matress. The cabins have a bedroom with a double bed, bunk beds, and the livingroom with a fouton. I prefer cabins because of the layout, but you can't beat the cottage lake-side location. There is also the Lighthouse Point pool and hot tub. The prices are on the high side, but you'll have a great time.

For your extended 4 day trip, you will not have daily maid sevices. The room will be made up when you get there, but will not be done daily. I think you can request new towels. The pool and hot tub are great. They have huge beach towels for your use. There is also a large play area for the kids to play in the water. You can also use the beach, but you will have to go to Breakers to use it. The last time I was there, the beach at Sandcastle was closed(2006).

I really like the fact that you get your own grill. But make sure to be well prepared, things like heavy duty aluminum foil and a large cookie sheet (to act as a lid or wind block) are two things that really help out a lot. A large bag of charcoal, and I always bring two coolers, one with dry ice that I put all my meat in, and then the regular one. The fridge is great inside, but is not very large. Cooking your own chicken or steak, thats been marinating all day, and some fresh veggies on the grill, and of course a few adult beverages is an awesome way to end a day at the point.

LP is great. The cabins are a lot better than a hotel
room. Granted, they are a bit expensive, but you'll
save a ton of money in food. I'm sure I don't need to
tell you how much you have to pay for not so great food
in the park. Just get your hand stamped, eat a nice
grilled out dinner, and go right back in. The convenience is
fantastic.

Sounds like cabins really are as good as they sound. We probablly wont be doing any grilling as we want all our time to be dedicated to the park. The cabin just acts as our fast past to cedar point with a bit more luxory than a hotel. And theirs a pool and hot tub.. how nice. How long are those open because having a nice hot tub swim wouldnt be bad after a day at CP..

You say you want all of your time dedicated to the park, but with 4 days there, you'll have plenty of time to relax on your deck and do some grilling. If the park is open till 10 during your visit it will be nice to leave the park around 4 or 5 for a few hours, eat, drink, relax, and then go back to the park to finish off the night. Once the park closes you can play a round of mini-golf in Challenge Park and then hit the pool and/or hot tub. That right there is my perfect day at Cedar Point. The pool and hot tub are open after the park closes. When I was there in May the park closed at 8 and we were in the hot tub until 10 or 11 and it was still open when we left.

How far is the walk from the LP area to the CP entrance at Magnum?

Its not far, really - probably just under a half mile. Though I will say that it seems about 15 times longer at the end of a long day.

Yes it does. Which could explain why we started driving (I know lazy), but at the end of the day, it was always nice to have the car there to drive back over.

I agree. For us, it's a matter of having the option to drive directly to lunch or dinner.

Though it should also be noted that the shuttle will take you from the entrance of Challenge Park to LHP (or elsewhere on property), which is a nice alternative if you catch it at the right time.
