The Cabins/Cottages were wonderful Gang!! They were very spacious as far as being built for the family or Group atmosphere and very Modern in all their conveniences. Like Scott eluded to above as well, the views were spectacular..They are not trashy! :)
Look for some pics in the near future..We took many!!
Care to chime in on the topic Dan?

What is the parking like at LP? Does each cottage/cabin get their own spot or is it a big communal parking lot?
There is an array of spots in front of each Cabin so if the ones directly in front of yours are taken (which they shouldn't) there is sure to be a spot open very nearby.

There is one spot for each cabin. If for some reason you have two cars, the other one needs to be parked in the Camper Village overflow lot.

I counted more than one spot per cabin CP Schroeder..and we didn't use the over flow lot for our cars...Had no problems either..Many were parking with multiple cars...

Does it make you feel like you're in an old seaside New England town?

They are around half done, in construction stages as of yesterday, 5/14/01. :)
Everyone, dont knock the Cottages/Cabins till you stay there. They do look kinda "Camp Groundish" but they are nice inside. Great place to take your kids when they are acting up.
CP needs an enterance in the back now!
Have you guys that are complaining even been there?
The planning that went into this place is amazing. It has a pier, boardwalk, lighthouse, two ponds, pool, and a water playground for the entire family. Probably most impressive is the fact that the ponds, pier, and lighthouse was already there. Great care was also taken in placing the cabins. Notice that all cabins not only have A/C, but they also have the A/C units on the same side of the cabins, as to not disturb anyone sitting on the decks. This is not to mention the fact that despite it's close proximity to the park and roads, it is rather secluded. Imagine this with trees filled in and landscaping done, then throw in the fact the park has been lubricating Mean Streak to prevent it from squeaking and you got yourself a beautifully secluded campground for under the price of a hotel room just a few yards away.

Lighthouse sounds great!
I have a question, is there a new gate closer to Lighthouse Point? Or will I have to get a shuttle to the other entrances?

As of now shuttle... but I THINK(hope) that CP will eventually build another gate around that area.
LP is nice because it runs about the same prics as Breakers Hotel, but to me the cottages and cabins seem more roomy and very tranquil. I fully endourse CP's decision for LP and it is going to be wonderful when it is 100% complete!

"Your obssesed w/ that place aren't you?"
just walk to magnum gate...

LP was GREAT!! CP did a wonderful job building this place. My wife and I stayed in cottage 15 from the 21st-24th. I think we'll have to get a cottage on our next visit! They don't look bad on the outside and the insides are beautiful! Much more than I was expecting. Great views too. I loved looking out the bedroom window and watching Magnum, Gemini and Mean Streak running as well as the Rip Cord victims. I also enjoyed (me being from North Texas) watching the boats and ships in the channel and bay. There looked to be plenty of parking to not cause any problems and they are within a short walk of the Magnum gate. We're lazy, so we went ahead and drove the 300 yards to the parking lot, but it would only be about a 5 minute walk from the cottages to the Magnum gate.
Complaints:
Those Muffleheads or Mayflies (whichever this time of year) were TERRIBLE when we arrived Monday, but not too awful after that. There were a lot of carcasses on the floor inside the door.
If they're going to be doing test runs of Mean Streak at 1:30am, they REALLY need GREASE!!
If they're going to be doing test runs of Magnum at 5:00am, they REALLY need to muffle that chain!!
I really commend CP on LP. A++++! I just can't wait to see everything in a few years once some of the trees start growing and everything fills in. I'll be making my reservations!
Glad to hear the positive feedback on LP! We'll be staying in a cottage over Coastermania weekend. I may even bring my 70 year old Mother along so she can enjoy the lake view.
LHP is great! I can see it being anywhere from a place for a family to kick back, enthusiasts to cluster, for friends to chill out, or Anne to have a drinking fest with her pals...did I say that? ;)
Seriously, it's gorgeous. Not trashy at all (and I would be the first to admit it if it was)extremely classy and comfortable, and better than a hotel room. 100% CP Irvine-Approved! :) (Who thanks god that she finally decided it's time to go work at the park....)

How are the camp sites in the new section. I've heard lots about the cabins and cottages, but has anyone stayed in one of the camping spots yet?
