Light on top of TTD

So far I have not seen a light on top of TTD like the one on top of Millennium. Is it required? Im sure a plane has a better chance of hitting TTD then MF.

There is a light for the planes. Its not all the way on the top of the tower though.

I would also think they did/theyre going to put one on the very top
I know that it is required to have a light on any structure over (x) feet (dont know the restritctions in ohio) I know that down in Florida, any structure over 200 ft. is required to have a warning light. I know this because they built the "tower of terror" at MGM Studios at 199' so they would not have to put a light on top as it would "ruin" the theming

"What is it?"
"I heard it was the worlds largest revolving restauraunt"
"Oh Yeah, well I heard that they melted down wicked twister to make it"
Yeah its up there alright it seems to not be nearly as bright as Millennium Forces though.
I think the light is needed so that it can light up the park so that you won't be not able to see in the dark.

I stoped at Battery Park on Thursday and you could see it on the top of the tower. Its there.

If Blue Streak has a light TTD had better have one too!

I have a hard time imagining a plane hitting BS even when it was built.

If you don't like it, Shut Up and don't get in line.

Thats funny about the Tower of Terror thing, @ 199 feet.

I honestly do not think the lights are for airplanes warning...because not only does a plane never fly @ 400 feet, but by the time the plane would see the lights it would probably be too late to move out of the way.

Planes fly @ 400 feet when they are going to land, because it takes them about 15 seconds to descend from 400 feet to landing.

The lights are just so you can see it in the dark, and on foggy nights. I know they have closed Superman The Escape, because they could no longer see the lights, and i am sure that they are there for the same reason.

From research via Google, anything over 200 feet (61 m) has to be lighted per FAA guidelines.

You know there's nothing good on TV when you're desperate enough to specifically look for infomercials.

Why they are putting a simple flashlight on MF or TTD ?

A laser or another light effect would be awsome.

They are required by the FAA to have lights on them. Not just for planes but for helicopters too, they fly low most of the time I think. Planes do fly at low altitudes such as 400 feet. The airport is near by so planes are flying at low levels all the time. I know working at the park, I would see low flying planes all the time going over head.

They have planes landing at Sandusky Airport...

And the lights are bright enough where you wouldn't have to make a terribly sharp turn to avoid the structure.

Does Sandusky have an airport ?

It should be verry small plaines. It's not possible to get a plane from Amsterdam to Sandusky. My destination is Detroit or Cleveland. During my stay in 2000, I haven't seen a plane in Sandusky at 500 feet.

I saw CP before the landing in Detroit.

That was awesome.I saw MF.Gotta picture of it.

Sorry, we are talking about a light ;)

Yes Sandusky has an airport. It is small but can still handle decent size planes, no 777's though;)

Whoa? You could see Cedar Point from a plane? I was just flying yesterday and constantly looking out the window but I couldn't see anything.

By the way, fly into Cleveland. It's a lot closer.

Many times when the wind is out of the northeast, the flight path for the approach into Cleveland Hopkins brings planes on a line from Bellevue to Milan and over Oberlin (where the Air Traffic Control is located) before they turn north to the airport. During the daylight hours, you can see the Islands, Cedar Point, the Huron River and Thunderbird Golf Courses, the water towers in Vermilion, US Steel in Lorain and other landmarks, all quite clearly. We've even seen Griffing Airport just to the southeast of CP. If you're on the left side of the plane, it's fun to look for things you recognize as you're coming in. In the evening, we have many times seen the lights of all the planes stacked up on approach just south of the lake as we have driven toward Sandusky on I-90.
Somebody actually told me that there are lights going up the tower that light up just light a real drag car race...and they light up before you launch...like the yellow and green lights! WHO KNOW?!?!

There are. I wonder how intense those lights will be, because if they were to use the same lights as those below MF's lift, they would probably blind people! :)

What is most anticipated event of 2003? the debut of Dragster, the release of Metallica's new album, the release of Terminator 3, or the release of Matrix:Reloaded...tough call.
