okay...so, if i apply for a lifeguarding job at cedar point, do i have to take a basic class beforehand? or do i just have to take the classes provided by cp when/if i'm hired? and also, when should i apply and do you apply online?
I'm a lifeguard at Castaway Bay and I just went through this just a month ago. If you're already hired, meaning you're Supervisor has already offered you the job, then you're hired for sure.
The first day is your processing in day, with paperwork and all that. Day two is Cedar Point class day like learning the policies of Cedar Point and such. Day three or four is Lifeguard class.
Guard class is provided by Cedar Point and they pay YOU to take the class. It's about 2 to 3 days, most likely 3, to finish the class. You'll be training with the program called Ellis and Associates.
Lifeguards are in SERIOUS need right now at Castaway Bay. Honestly, if you apply now, you're probably going to get hired. Apply online at cedarpoint.com and put one of your options as lifeguard. Hopefully we will be seeing you at Castaway in the near future. ;D
Oh, and your first day of work will probably be the day following the ending of your class.
Be sure to pay attention to what the supervisor of the class says for your guard training, and pay attention to the scenarios. They will go over them and over them and over them and over them and over them and over them to make sure you get them. Don't goof off though, there is a written test at the end that you must pass or you go back through guard class.
To be hired for work you gotta be 16, you will have a minor card until you're 18 I believe. No big deal, don't worry about your age.
