last year for me I think I was working around 70 hours per week with the beach crew getting around 80. extra hours are not difficult to get as a lifeguard. I wish we only worked 6 hours shifts. some days you'll work PO (pool open) which is earlier then most everyone till Close, once you get into the longer hours those days are terrible, sometimes you'll have OC's (open to close) some are around 1pm to close, it varies. I do remember that near the end of the season we were so short staffed I ended up working at least 2, 13 hour days a week.

Maybe she said "six to ten hour shifts" and you just misheard her? If not then I don't know why she would have said 6 hours.
your gonna prob have guard class and work crew. Work crew is the were we clean everything and get it ready for opening day.

having worked at the city last summer I can think of very few 6 hour shifts, most were longer then that and as I mentioned they get longer and longer as the season goes on and people quit/get fired. This is especially true if you're on wave crew because not everybody gets the same level of certification during guard class, at least that was the case for us. The wave crew was struggling to find anybody that had the special facilities classification.
and have fun with work crew.

at cb I only worked weekends this winter so I would work 3 open to closes or oc's as there known. thats means 845am to 1030pm friday and sat, then on sunday I would work 845am to 930pm. If I was only a open or a close I would work 845am till 4pm or 4pm till close
