Lifeguarding at CP was one of the best experiences ever. I am contracted to come back May 19th but being 6 1/2 months pregnant I can't and i miss it every day.
Make sure you ALWAYS have your fanny "butt" pack and have it full. ALWAYS have several pairs of gloves and sunscreen.
Try not to bite your whistle.. sounds easy not too but come august you'll realize how much the kids irritate you.
If you get on Wave be careful of the lilypads... the stick is 48 inches for a reason let NO one under that even a hair under it... unless u plan on getting wet... Also if you are on lily pads DO NOT wear your clothes even if it is cold.. you WILL go in lol
Be careful on wave jumping from the chairs when the waves are on... good way to sprain your ankle..
Make friends with the emts they are awesome... kick spike of course :P
Definitly carry a nice waterbottle and get comfortable sandals... also carry lotion in your "buttpack" helps with rover rash aka walking back and forth with wet legs or sweat lol...
DO not ever twirl your height stick or twirl your whistle lanyard... TLS will kill you not to mention height sticks get stuck in slides if you lose control of them lol...
If u get on west have fun with splash zone.. dont hesitate to turn off the water guns that can squirt the other guards in the face... and make sure no one runs... Good place for spinal injuries..
Don't be afraid of blood...
and last but not least... carry spare change in your buttpack... don't leave valaubles in your "locker" because they don't lock.. and always have a bag with your rain gear and wind gear... and BUY both of those... get a few visors/hats and keep pleanty of sunglasses in your bag or buttpack

Helen if you want to be lazy all summer than i would request to be on east crew. It is mostly all slides. If you want a lot of action (rescues) than i would join wave. If you want a lot of spinals and first aid then i would join west. Eerie falls is now run by wave crew since the addition of splash zone. Wave crew 04!!! SCRUNCH YOUR IT! It is a blast helen. The guards usually have dinner after work everyweek. It's a good time to bond. Also at the bar the challenge park theme song is "margaritaville". So when it comes on all of the lifeguards, supervisors, and emt's make a huge circle on the dance floor and sing it with the challenge park twist...which you will learn when you get to the bar. Good luck with the season.
