LHP Questions

Checking into LHP Sunday 7th. Only my 2nd park visit and first time staying on the point. I hope some of you (Mayor Scott perhaps) can help answer several LHP related questions that are starting to come up as the long-anticipated day is finally just around the corner! So here goes:

Will I be able to move my car freely from lot to lot during my stay-not really sure If I'd even need/want to do this-just wondering-and will I get a parking pass that will keep me from having to pay each time I leave then re-enter the point?

Do the cabins have internet access if I bring a laptop? Do they charge? If no are there access to computers anywhere for guests?

Is it normal "hotel" TV with tons of pay movie options or just basic cable and is it possible to connect a portable dvd player to the cabin TV sets?

Is the Camper Village store WAY overpriced and do they sell beer wine or liquor? Hours? Can't find much out about the store at cp.com. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place. Thanks!

I can answer a measley one of those...

Parking - As you pass through the toll booths, you will have to pay the $9 parking fee, and you will be reimbursed at the LHP office.

Brandon

Then you can park in the SC lot free the whole time you're there.

I can answer a couple others, too.

Yes, if I remember right it's a "hotel" TV with the pay movie stuff. Yes, if your DVD player has a coax out (instead of the 3 A/V plugs), then you can take out the cable in the back and plug in the DVD player instead (I do this with my PS2 whenever we go).

The CV store isn't too overpriced, but we usually only get like a gallon of milk or stuff like that that we forget at home. I think they sell beer, idk I never needed it. Try calling LHP or CV for more information as far as that goes.

2008 - Games (Area 3/Scales)
2009 - Games Supervisor
2010 - Season pass holder.

Yes you can move your car around, but most likely wont need to. Yes Camper Village sells beer (dont think its cold). Overpriced? Not horribly.

No Internet. No the TVs dont have pay movies, its just basic cable and I recall there being A/V plugs when I stayed in a cabin (otherwise you have to unplug the cable)

You have to ask the Mayor. :)

Greetings,

#1. You won't need or want to move your car. Parking is available right in front of your cabin/cottage. Transportation to the park is provided by a shuttle service or your own two feet. To use the shuttle, there are phones at the pick up/drop off sites. Just pick one up and tell them where you are and where you want to go. They are very timely and this service helps save the feet for the park.

#2. The cabins/cottages have not had internet access in the past. I doubt things have changed this year.

#3. The TV has cable and you can connect a DVD player to it. As far as pay TV options, I'm not sure.

#4. The Camp store does sell beer, and many other things at resonable prices. The only place on Point you can buy liquor is the Marina store and it's not worth the effort it takes to even drink it. It's the fake stuff, watered down and awful. You can get real booze, by the glass, at the Bubbles swim up bar in Soak City. I think that that is the only place on Point.

I hope that this has helped. Regardless, you will really enjoy your stay at Lighthouse Point! (Don't forget to walk the lake sidewalk, it'll give you a great view of the lake, Sandcastle Suites, and Hotel Breakers.)

I would be surprised that Fridays does not sell booze. But maybe I'm wrong.

I don't think that they do, Jugga. The Castaway Bay one may, but I doubt the one on Point does.

I guess I'll have to stop and find out whenever I'm there next.

If I get the chance to get over that way in a couple of weeks, I'll let you know. (What's your drink of choice, I'll have one, if available...;) )

My preference is a pint o Guinness, but I've also been known to sip on a glass or two of Brandy or Whiskey.

No Mr. Mayor, you are wrong on that. Here are the places at Cedar Point with a full service bar that sells liquor and mixed drinks of all kinds:

TGIFridays on the Beach (Hotel Breakers)
TGIFridays at Castaway Bay
Famous Dave's BBQ
Bay Harbor
Breakwater Cafe
Bubbles Bar
Dominic's

Yes, the Marina Store sells low proof "fake booze", because they are not a State of Ohio liquor agency. But, all the places mentioned above have full liquor licenses and will sell you a mean Long Island Iced Tea.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Is Dominics the italian joint inside Breakers?

I was not imprssed with that place...

I will be arriving on sunday the 7th as well, staying there till the 13th, this will be my 7th time staying at lighthouse point, staying in a cabin ,and i woudnt have it any other way.

Pete,

I stand corrected.

Also, I forgot about Famous Dave's, probably due to the Long Islands I had there. Man, that was one long night! Dragster at midnight full of Long Islands, whew!

I usually move my car to the Breakers or Soak City parking lot, its' not that far of a walk to the park, but after spending the day walking, it's nice to have the car right there to drive back to your site in the evening. This will also allow you to leave the park and stash things in the trunk of your car if you want to. We usually leave poncho's and stuff in the car so if we need them it's just a short walk from the resort gate.

TGIFridays at the Breakers has a full bar, with great views of Lake Erie. Bay Harbor also has a full bar with great views of the Blue Streak.

The Camper Village store does sell beer, its a little overpriced, but not that bad from what I remember. I'm not sure of their exact hours, but I have never had a problem getting supplies before the park opened or after it closed. We usually stop at a grocery store in Sandusky and get one of those cheap styrofoam coolers for $1.98 and buy bagged ice from the store. The "dorm style fridge" that is in the cabins does not produce much ice. If you prefer cocktails do a search for 3712 Columbus Ave in Sandusky, there is a liquor store there, and it's not far out of your way when going to the point.

The cabins come with a fridge, microwave, small coffee pot, and a grill. Making a few meals in the cabin will save you money.

The TV has standard cable, but to be honest, I wouldnt plan on watching too much TV. The views from the cabins will entice you to sit outside and look at either the great skyline of CP or the Bay/Lake action. We usually only turn on the TV to get the weather report for the day. In the morning we have coffee on the deck and watch the maintence men checking Mean Streak and the boats comming in and out of the harbor. Be prepared to feed the birds also, they can be quite friendly in the mornings. In the evenings we usually enjoy cocktails on the deck, and admire the CP skyline with the lights on.

On an aside, what do they charge to your credit card when making reservations? The first night's rate? The entire stay?

Brandon

JuggaLotus's avatar

The first night's rate is required as a deposit. After that you can pay for the rest at your leisure.

Great. Thanks, John!

Don't forget that the rate shown online doesn't include taxes. Those will be included in the total needed for deposit.
