LHP - Cottage or Cabin?

I assumed there was really no construction work done to the units once they left the factory.

I went with a group of 7 college friends and we stayed in the Cabin.

2 people slept on each futon, 2 people in the bedroom, and 1 person in the loft. There was definately room for another person in the loft, though as someone else mentioned when sleeping in the loft, you certainly don't want to sit up suddenly or your head will hit the ceiling!

Disney has similar cabins at Fort Wilderness and they have TONS of room in the shower. Actually, its a full bathtub and the bathroom has a vaulted ceiling. So, blaming the issue in there on the designer/manufacturer is a cop-out for Cedar Point. When I buy a house, I check out the tubs and showers. If you don't, you're not a very good shopper. LOL!! Disney has their units shipped full assembled too, so its basically the same thing. Sure, theirs probably cost more, but yeah - same thing. If they're going to make an investment in that many cabins and cottages, they really should make sure they're getting exactly what they want.

By the way, you HAVE to do construction on the units once they leave the factory. You at least have to hook plumbing and sewer to the bottom of the unit, so a mechanic is already out there making connections.

Bump...Do these units have A/C? Necessary for end of July with 6 people in close quarters, I think. Can't find info on this. Thanks

Yes, fully air conditioned. You can make it frigid inside if you want too. :)

Thanks Tim. Now its a toss up between SCS and LHP

Sandcastle is OLD. I wouldn't stay there. I've heard horror stories. I like eating at their restaurant though.

IMO, LHP is the best way to enjoy the Point. And I've been visiting the Point every way possible since the mid 70's.

Okay, you guys figure this one out for me. A few friend of my mine and I have been planning to get a cabin for a while. However, the number of people keeps growing. We are up to nine, and are stopping it. ha. Anyway, Do you think we can pull this off in the cabin? I was figuring a couple in the bedroom, four on the futons, The loft is what I'm not sure of. I've never been there, so someone please enlighten me. Is there anyway we can fit three? One being a kid. If not, is there somewhere we can plop an air matress? I really dont want to have to go back to the econolodge! Will the resort employees say anything about there being so many people there? lol

The loft is large enough (in area) to accommodate 2-4 people, but it is very short - there's no standing up at all up there. In fact, the most you can do is crawl.

As you said, you can fit 4 on the futons, another 2 in the bedroom and the remaining 3 could sleep in the loft. Keep in mind, though, that an air mattress will take up some valuable "head" room up there.

While it's technically against the rules to have that many people in LHP lodging, it can be done. Things will be hectic in the morning (showering, eating, etc), but some clever logistical forethought can make things run more smoothly.

I'd say hotel breakers with a view of dragster and millennium. but thats just me.

Given the amount of people, and the convenience of being able to cook your own meals (highly valuable with a party of 9), LHP is easily a better choice in this situation.

Not to mention LHP has that infinitely better view of Mean Streak.

Oh, indeed. You can't beat mornings at LHP. Makes me wish I was still a smoker. ;)

Do what I do, become an "honorary" smoker, and stand outside anyway. :)

I used to do that when I worked for a company I really hated. I pretended that I smoked and went out with everyone on their hourly breaks. It ruled.

Thats one of the big reasons I started smoking. If you smoke, you get breaks, if you don't smoke, you have to keep working while everyone else takes breaks. Doesn't take a genius to figure that one out.

Pffft - smokers don't get hourly breaks here. Well, perhaps dept. managers do, but not us lowly managers/engineers. Whaa!

Do you guys need a lecture from your resident PBuzz oncology nurse about how trading your health for a few more work breaks does not equate to an accomplishment?

I was planning on booking at LHP for opening day; but I forgot there won't be a pool (indoor) or hot tub there. I guess we will stick to The Breakers for OD & try LHP in June or July. Sorry Mr. Scott. I was looking forward to trying it.

You need an indoor pool? Because Light House Point has a pool and hot tub. They are just outdoors.

What do you need a pool for?
