Let's Remember Disaster Transport!

MF lights are fine.

All the things that have been pointed out by people cough "Coastern3rd" cough, are things that a normal guest wouldn't notice. So the lights WERE a little faded, so what, i couldn't tell. It seems that the only way you can see what your talking about besides DT, is if you went to the park to pick it apart. It's stupid. To fight over a logo on Corkscrew has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard of. Maverick's themeing is not going anywhere, for the first time in CP history the themeing is a MAJOR part of the ride(besides DT). None of the coasters you have pointed out were planned for much themeing at all besides DT and TTD. And TTD themeing is the same it was in 2003 besides the trains which really don't matter much at all. They were changed due to safety reasons. I think you are over-recacting about almost everything you stated in previous posts. Cedar Point will take care of what needs to be. They have up held many rides in many years and I think that the same goes for Maverick.

^Funny... My friends (normal guests) point this crap out all the time. You could have noticed MF lights just by being at the park at night. It does not take a coaster enthusiast to see that the 2nd largest ride in the park has lights out.

I'm not fighting anyone over a logo on the Corkscrew. Its stupid to assume that in the first place and is quite pedomorphic to read my post and try to sway me on what I've said. Cedar Point could not get Dragster right the first time. Further proof (in my eyes) that they can't do it right at all. Go to CP, get in line for Dragster and tell me that the signs in line look good. because fading is sign of neglect especially when some of the signs are not even correct in their statements.

I never said they neglect the rides. They just can't keep up with the visual aspect of things. Like I said, I stand by my original comment.

^ I was thinking the exact same thing about Dragster's signs. They are bordering on disgusting. Having said that, I still don't think DT has gotten all that bad. No the themeing isn't Disney level but I think its fine.

Thrills Around the Corner!

MF lights are fine now. They fixed them. Just like they will fix the Dragster sign one day. Just like they will keep up with Maverick the way they keep up with Thunder Canyon, Dragster, and any other ride that majorly needs to have themeing. The TTD sign will be fixed in a year or two. I really don't care about the sign because i'm their to ride the ride. Could the signs be better then what they are? yes. Are they good enough the way they are? yes. Can you read them? yes. The dragster still has the sound effects, take off lights, and hill lights fully working. That in my opinion is all they need to run it.

I stand by my word.

Mk522 also makes a good point. Cedar Point is not a THEME PARK, it is an AMUSEMENT PARK. Themeing should not be Cedar Points number one priority. I give them credit for even doing as much themeing as they do.

What TTD sign are you talking about, by the way?

I think the theming for the rides like Mav and ttd are fine. Unlike DT, at least the story behind the theme makes sense for ttd and Mav. the theme adds enough touch to enjoy it along with the ride.

But it would be cool to see DT in it's hayday!!

^The signs in the queue.

disaster transport has a flava all its' own...

I still enjoy the ride even though the theming is mediocre and the ride is pitch black. I think it is good for the family though.

My sister used to operate the ride......I still enjoy the ride even though the theming is tacky and when me and my friends or sister wait in line for it, we love to make fun of the theme up all over the place!!! :)

Just be glad that this one isn't more or less from before the whole Top Thrill Dragster ordeal started.

true the ride does suck but.... I have to honestly say that I think it is great ride for kids. It gets them "geared up" to ride the coasters. When I was a kid it was Avalanche Run and I can remember loving that ride.

In the end yes it does suck but..... I think the "little coasters" are great to get your kids to want to ride the "big" ones in the future.

Brains. Must Eat Brains :)

Last season a couple guys standing in DT's line said one of them was too big to even ride Magnum - of which I've seen a King Kong Bundy-sized guy ride with his son who couldn't fit on anything else, and this particular guy wasn't that big. But DT was the only one he said he fit on. He actually thought the ride was fun. Part of it may have been that it was enough of a roller coaster so he at least got on one. Part of it may be the darkness of the ride was unexpected. I could tell these guys didn't ride roller coasters all the time. So they had fun being able to ride DT.

I ride it once in awhile for a change of pace. I like it when they keep it mostly dark with the strobes off in the tunnels. The rumbling sound of the wheels on the bobsled track is something a little different. The outside of building is uglier than a teenage zombie at a prom. And the ride itself is a little too short. The roof leaks when it rains. But like any zombie movie I like it for what it is.

A lot of folks say that DT shouldn't be taken out because it fits into the family coaster category, which is something that the park doesn't have very much of. But who says that what goes in DT's place has to be a huge record-breaker? I say retire DT, and in its place put in an indoor, spinning wild mouse coaster with easy-to-maintain theming, such as strobes, blacklight and glowpaint (ala Rockin' Rollercoaster). This way we still have a family coaster... Exterminator has a 46" height requirement... and we don't loose our indoor dark coaster. Everybody's happy :)

Exterminator is such an awesome ride, and takes up 1/3 the space of DT.

I've said for a long time that a spinning roller is bound to show up sometime. I've only been on Primeval Whirl, but I thought it was a lot of fun.

They've been showing up at various Six Flags, Disney Parks, and Cedar Fair parks over the past three years.

Spinning Dragons at Worlds of Fun is the most common of them.

While Sierra Sidewinder at KBF seems like a better choice since it looks to have better capacity.

While having an indoor coaster is nice, DT's location is prime real estate for something outdoors with the beach/lake backdrop.

If they build another indoor coaster, the logically place for that would be right where WildCat stands. It's the only place in the park where a huge box wouldn't look out of place. While I love WildCat, I wouldn't be that upset to see it go and be replaced with something better.

Seeing a family coaster come in would be nice. If I had a prediction for one, I would put it in where Turnpike Cars are. And yes I'm implying that Turnpike Cars would be removed. I think putting a family coaster there would bring some needed attention to that area, which could increase readership for both Calypso and Blue Streak. And for those of you who like the short (almost walk-on) waits Calypso and BS have on busy days, then sorry.

But don’t rule out the possibility for a modern version of a classic cyclone to go where DT is. That would have some nice potential.....plus, CP needs a wooden.:)

Wait a minute, this isn't the 2010 coaster topic!!

When you read the title of this topic it makes it sound as if Disaster Transport is gone.

Unfortunately it is still proudly standing on the beach front, ugly as ever. :sigh:

If Cedar Point ever does remove DT, I'm gonna be sore at all you knuckleheads for giving them idiotic ideas.

DT might be ugly on the outside and have illogical theming on the inside, but the coaster itself is still an enormously fun ride. I wouldn't mind seeing some improvements in the presentation, but I would be saddened to see it leave.

My author website: mgrantroberts.com.

I have to agree with Ensign Smith. He brings up a good point about Disaster Transport. I mean even though some of us here bash the ride because they think it's boring or not as fun any more, I'm sure deep down they would be saddened to see it go. Everyone here I'm sure would be heartbroke in a way about not having Disaster Transport. In my mind Disaster Transport is very unique.

Although if it was removed I'd have to say I agree with TTD 120 again about the cyclone Idea. I think it would be awesome though if they built it like a GCI wooden coaster. The Supports could be Steel and the track could be wood. Maybe they could throw in a couple new elements like the 90 degree turns. :)

Nothing could be further from the truth. I would actually donate some of my own money above and beyond admission to get it torn down. And no, I am not kidding.

In my mind Disaster Transport is very unique.

That I cannot argue with. But being unique does not make something worth keeping.

DT might be ugly on the outside and have illogical theming on the inside,

Thank you for summing it up.
