Yes, any ideas? Tired of snooping around to get my Snoopy fix. Oh yeah did I mention I am too cheap to pay for the hotel prices. :)

Preferably in the city limits in a non-lit area (...no Wal-Mart or Meijer parking lots)

You could always pay $28 for a camp site at Bayshore. You know, so you're not slum-doggin' it in your car...

Rest stops, I mean are that not what they are for? To get some rest so you don't fall asleep on the road.

^^Did they raise rates this year? Last year I think it was $24. Either way, it's still really cheap.

Yeah, they've raised the rates the past 2 years. It's getting a little out of hand for a campsite for a trailer since KOA took over.

You could sleep in any dumpster or trash bin behind any restaurant.

I have tried to sleep in Breakers lot, and have been caught by security. They make you sleep in the main outer lot. Just after you pass the parking toll booth they have cones set up so you don,t drive up to far. I think it is where the road crosses through the main lot, all early arrivals sleep there.

Man, are you really so poor/cheap that you can't even afford a hotel room or a campsite for a night? I realize Sandusky is expensive, but cmon.

I guess I'm just fancy now or something, but I couldn't even think of staying in my truck.

Perhaps factory81's finances aren't exactly like yours. It is a remote, but distinct, possibility.

If I can't afford an extra $25 for a night of camping, then I'm not sure what I'm doing spending days in Sandusky in the first place.

Maybe you've scraped together just enough money for admission, the gas to get there and some lunch meat for sandwiches.

Just because someone isn't exactly flush with money doesn't mean they won't try to find a way to do the thing they love. Twenty years ago, I was living at at an air strip, in a trailer without electricity, heat, or running water. I did odd jobs around the airport -- sweeping hangars, washing planes -- to earn "jump money". My quality of life may have suffered in some ways, but at least I got to sky dive, which at that time was basically the only thing I wanted to do.

I've slept in my van at dog shows at the show sites, but I had a bed set up so it was comfortable. My biggest concern about sleeping in a parking lot though, is safety. Someone could rob you or worse quite easily (ala Michael Jordan's father)

Last year I took a fully loaded Traverse out of the fleet and to the point and planned on staying just for the day. Our plans changed when we met up with some friends and after two hours of "no room at the inn" at 2 am in Sandusky, we pulled into Wal-Mart and slept in the back. With the 120 volt outlet, and plenty of room to sleep in the back, I wouldn't be opposed to doing it again. It's the lack of a shower that bothered me.

But now lack of a shower isn't really a problem either since they added the fountains!

I would think that a 24 hour Meijer or Wal-Mart would be a legal place to sleep. Not sure how safe it would be though.

^Pretty safe since those lots have security cameras too.

I noticed the other day there was a big sign at the Meijer parking lot that said no overnight parking. But Walmart always welcomes people to sleep in their lots.
