Launch Direction

I know TTD launches from the right side, but why isn't there any coasters that I know that launches you from the left side? Sorry if it's a stupid question, I just thought of it when I woke up.

Xcelerator launches from the left side

It is true though. Most do go from the right.

101 on Magnum and counting...

Yeah forgot about Xcelerator, but thats the only one I can think of

I'm pretty sure Rita launches from the left.

I think you meant Superman Escape not Superman The Escape.

Ride on, MrScott!

It just has to do with location. They want the launch to be on the side with the midway so guest can interact with the ride. Brakeruns aren't very interesting.

Gomez nailed it. It's what fits.

I still think it's kinda iteresting that the majority of launc coasters seem to launch to the right facing the ride from the midway. Ones I can name off the top of my head are WT, TTD, Kingda, Kanonen, Storm Runner, etc...

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Hypersonic launches straight on baby! ;)

Yeah there is a few coasters that launch straight forward. Imagine this.... If they built a launch coaster like TTD but with 1 top hat to the north and one to the south with 2 launches! That's be crazy! But itd also take up A LOT of space. We're talking like 2 TTD's put back to back

^Trust me, you're not missing much at ALL.

It's just "BAM!, hill, ouch, clang clang clang clang ouch ouch ouch, clang, clang, brakes"

I live right down the street from Kings Dominion and have rode Hypersonic a total of 8 times! The ride SUCKS. I was THRILLED to hear the announcement of Cedar Fair's purchase of the park, maybe the will take the waste of space out.(Hypersonic that is) And I wouldn't be suprised in a few years that KD isn't right up in the hunt for the most coasters. They have 12 already and TONS of farm land to the east that they can expand on. But You are DEFINATELY not missing ANYTHING by not getting to ride Hypersonic. Think of riding Woodstock Express 140 feet taller and 40mph faster. And I'm NOT joking.

I doubt they will expand KD rapidly. It doesn't make sense.

Yeah it does suck. It's just fast. That's all to it. After that it's a crappy hill packed with no airtime and a lousy turn into a hard brake run

Ya know what else I was thinkin.... Ok to save myself from putting this in a topic and getting it locked because there's probably already one about this. So I'll save some bandwith and ask it on here. Why is it that so many launched coasters only have 5 cars per train? Is there even a launched coaster with say 7 or 8 cars per train? Besides The Incredible Hulk....

That's as simple as less cars less weight. Less weight, less power to accelerate the train.
