Our family has been season pass customers for 6 years now. We have visited CP at least 40 times each year, last year over 80 visits. My older son and I have ridden MS at least half of those visits, not even close to approaching MS Henry numbers. He has not been able to come as much this year due to a job, but he was with us on 8\23.
So, after exiting Gemini he says "Hey dad, since they are closing Mean Streak we ought to take one last ride on it." this was at about 11:45am.
Off to MS, across the RR tracks, and under that magnificent wooden structure that is so very impressive to me. Up the stairs, no wait, back seats are empty! Ready to go, host says to enjoy your 3 minute, 10 second ride on Mean Streak, bye bye.
No go, the crew started looking around at each other, looking at the lift hill, we weren't going anywhere. We were stuck in the cars for about 10 minutes as they could not release us and I know there was at least one other train somewhere out there on the layout. Finally we were released & told the ride would be down indefinitely. Oh well, so much for the final ride......for now.
So, Friday, 8\26 my 10 year old and I arrived at CP at about 5:00pm. A very pleasant evening with short lines on the rides we chose. Gatekeeper, Wicked Twister (front seat), Power Tower drop, then to my surprise he points at Magnum and wants to try it. He loved it! Pipescream, Gemini, then another surprise. He wants to try Mean Streak! He has never ridden it before and I would hate for him not to have had the experience of this bone jarring coaster. He has been so brave trying new things this year, including Valravn & Skyhawk.
We sat back seat, it was extremely rough, we both loved it. For Ethan it was a "first ride" and a "last ride". It was also his first ride on Magnum, I think he is hooked.
After Skyhawk, up Frontier Trail to Iron Dragon, then cap off the night with Blue Streak front seats.
One thing I love about CP is that even though we go there often, each visit is unique, taking on it's own character & batch of memories.
Do the front seat, totally different and smoother than any other seat and it doesn't matter orange or green train.

Front seat was pretty damn good when we went on it last, three rides in a row.
New for 2024- Wicked Twister Plus
Yeah, I know that front seat is a smoother ride, but there was a wait for it and we were fine with back seat. He really loved it! Besides, how else would he have experienced the true bone crunching, thigh bruising aspects of Mean Streak. We usually try for front seat on Blue Streak, Iron Dragon, Gatekeeper, Wicked Twister, Mine Ride as Ethan pretends to "drive" .
I have a great idea, if we are there this weekend take another last ride on Mean streak, this time front row. We might not make it due to the Airshow here this weekend.
