Last ride -- Space Spiral Auction???

^I just thoroughly enjoy the panoramic view of Space Spiral.

I love observation towers, but Space Spiral is in a sad state. Unless things have changed from last summer, the windows are dingy and scratched, the upper level is never used, and the ride cycle has been cut so short that the narration is very obviously digitally sped up. Honestly, Windseeker is a better observation tower than Spiral.

The narration is new this year. I suppose it could be sped up as well. If not the woman speaking should have no problem getting voice overs in drug commercials. I'd have to do research to know if there is more content, of if they just re-recorded it. But, we rode it opening weekend and the audio said 16 coasters.

I do think the recording was redone. I rode it on May 19th and it said 16 coasters. I don't remember any of the previous recordings. It's been years since I've ridden it, so I don't remember. Also, I thought that the recording was a male back in the 90's.

Considering it said 17 last year, it was definitely redone

Tony Clark was the voice for a few years. I can't remember if he got bumbed out last year or just now.

Thanks Jason, I thought that maybe I was imagining things. As I said, it's been a number of years since I've ridden the Space Spiral, so I couldn't remember if I was right or not.

They must have gotten the new narration recorded awfully quickly after Wildcat's removal...within days, as the new spiel was already in use when I went there on the sixth day of the operating season.

It was in use on Day 1. That's why she's talking so fast. ;)

I couldn't understand a lot of the narration because of how fast it was spoken! They either need to make the ride cycle longer, allowing the narration to be slowed down, or they need to cut some of the narration out so they can slow it down...

They will most likely trash it. I guess they had too many problems with it.

I mean when you think about once space spiral is gone it's going to be hard to get a beautiful steady bird's eye view of the park. I really thought more people would be dissapointed to see it go. I certainly am, but I'm definetely the minority.

People who love Cedar Point will miss it greatly - those who just love the roller coasters at Cedar Point don't notice much else. You see much more of the latter on fan forums. It's also no fun to be bashed for lamenting the loss of something classic so some of us just sit back and watch. The few I have shared the news with actually gasp so you're not in that small of a minority.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who's going to miss it!
