Just checking to see if people think there should be an auction for last ride on Space Spiral? I'd definitely bid on that. I really enjoyed the view from the space spiral, but some days it just got too dang hot in there.

It could potentially raise multi-tenths of hundreds of dollars.
The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.

Ok, here's the deal. The plans for next year aren't even officially announced by the park yet. So please stop with all of the questions and speculating. My goodness, it's the first day of June and everybody is already getting antsy for next summer.
You're right. No one EVER talks about Shoot the Rapids anymore :)
This Isn't A Hospital--It's An Insane Asylum!
LOL...wow, I didn't realize Space Spiral was that unpopular of an attraction. I really thought it's been an icon at CP for so many years. I mean when you think about once space spiral is gone it's going to be hard to get a beautiful steady bird's eye view of the park. I really thought more people would be dissapointed to see it go. I certainly am, but I'm definetely the minority.

That's what happens when people get over it. ;)

I can't really explain it to you Campfreak06....haven't been on SS since a was a little kid (I'm 35), and if it had been missing from the park for the past 10 years I wouldn't know any different.
The thing is, when we were little it was the only thing that stuck out when coming up the causeway. Imagine that younglings. No Magnun, no MF, no PT, no TTD, etc...
It was part of Cedar Point's image. Part of the signature.
Today what catches your eye, Space Spiral? Maybe as an afterthought, but today the skyline is dominated by rides that were unimaginable when SS was the only 200 foot kid on the block.
It may be sad in a way to some, and I get the nostalgia factor, but I can take it or leave it. I mentioned this elsewhere, but now with two kids of our own, I can honestly say I have not even once thought about Space Spiral even being in the park, much less getting on it. I just don't see the appeal of it.
Heck, I never even built observation towers in may RCT parks. :)
Promoter of fog.
Nostalgia aside, SS has been getting pretty run down. If Windseeker, (which I love), can be built for $5 million, It seems another observation tower/needle/ride can be built elsewhere in the park for a reasonable cost. Maybe that's in the plans for the future.

I'd say no because I know who got the last ride. :)

Yeah, I remember those days. My dad stopping at the toll booth, and I sitting by the window in the van looking over at just Space Spiral and Demon Drop.
I ride it every now and then when I go with either my friend or husband. Usually, only like about 7 others are on it with us. I want to like it more, but the ride's just too short. They should keep the cabin at the top a little longer. That is probably the reason not many people ride it much, too short.
They ride giant wheel just down the street for a longer time sitting up atop the ride for a better view without scratched windows in their faces.
Space Spiral gives a view of the entire park. Giant wheel gives you a view facing one way.
