Land of Confusion

I personally don't have any skin in this game, because thanks to the amusement park gods we are TOL pass holders, but holy hell, Batman...I thought Cedar Point as a standalone park had done a good job of making things pretty confusing over the past couple years with all the new pass names and add-ons and perks, but it's gotten so weird that posts are now being made including helpful diagrams because things are now even weirder thanks to "regions" and MVP sales...whatever that is.

If I was a normal pay-to-play season pass holder I have a feeling I would be just a bit confused, especially if I paid for something that is now being heavily discounted.

For TOL holders, they simply gave us "all park access" for free, so this is a headache I don't have to navigate. Just curious amongst those on this site if things have been confusing, or is this just Facebook complainers making things more complicated than they are?

I miss the good ol' days of of gold passes and platinum passes. One got you into CP, the other got you into every other park in the chain.

Amen.
Keep it simple. Gold & Platinum are all we really need.
Offer a limited number of Prestige passes for the perks, and for the love of Pete, raise the prices across the board.

Yeah, I agree with "keep it simple". All this mumble jumble is a great way for them to get people to pay for extra this and extra that, much of what they really don't ever utilize to justify the purchase.

Sort of like all the TV apps these days; Disney+Hulu+ESPN, peacock. paramount, prime, etc......., "Oh, I need that one!"

Side note: I met the wonderful Phil Collins once on a quiet Sunday morning at the airport they want to close in the big city 50 miles east of CP. What a nice gentleman he was to me, very kind.

Hey you know what they say about season passes, if you don’t like the pass…wait 5 minutes.

I'm glad you posted this, Kevin. I was too embarrassed to admit I was confused. 😂

The Prestige Pass perks are going to be worthless this year but the biggest hit for me was for all those who can purchase an all season fast lane plus for 500 that will now work at Cedar Point - Under Cedar Fair the cost for the all park all season fast lane was bumped to 1000 because it included CP. Last season the FL lines were getting a bit out of hand and this season is going to be even worse.

Before reading further, click here. I heard this cover live in early 2019.

Anyway, should I be confused? I purchased a Gold Pass well ahead of time that included the All Parks Pass. And I'm planning to go north of the border this summer to visit Canada's Wonderland, as part of a vacation that includes Niagara Falls and a stop at Darien Lake.

I shouldn't have any troubles, should I? As for the home park thing, I already covered it last September.

Unofficial Rule of Ride Removals

You must announce removals in advance so people can get their last rides in, unless a major incident or malfunction prevents the ride from doing so.

This applies to roller coasters, flat rides, water rides, and so on.

Exceptions to this rule include upcharge attractions, waterpark rides, and rides that are effectively redundant within a park.

^I think you'll be fine. I also bought a Gold Pass last season but from Wonderland with the All Park Passport add on during the sale. I read so much fine print trying to figure out if it included parking at all parks or just my home park because it wasn't clear. I never really read anything definitive but it seemed as though it just covered parking for the home park. Either way I tried at at the toll booth at Cedar Point after I had already been to Wonderland and it worked.

If you wouldn't mind, walk me through this.

How are folks getting all season fast lane (that works at CP) for $500? Cedar Point's website has it listed as $999.

I think folks are saying that you could buy a Gold Pass at a park and add All Season FLP for all the parks for the $500, but I'm not seeing that. Spot checking a few of the Midwest Region parks show them all having FLP available for $1,000, not $500.

That said, it looks like All Season FLP can be had in the East Region for $500, but that does not include CP.

Of course I have only been following this insane nonsense peripherally, so I could be way off base.

Nope. Not confusing at all.

You can get a prestige pass in any region outside of the Midwest and the price of an all season fast lane is $500 that includes Cedar Point because it’s a prestige pass. It’s a whopping wallet breaking $80 extra to go from gold to prestige at let’s say, six flags over Georgia.

That makes sense. So Prestige + All Seasons FLP is the formula.

Did you try calling for a reimbursement?

But don't you have to activate your pass at the park it's purchased from? I thought that was the loophole that almost made this make sense.

I have heard that you do have to activate the pass at the park you get the pass from but I’m not sure how true that is because when I originally bought our prestige passes from cedar point the first park we visited was Knotts Berry Farm in early January. That being said I can’t ask for a refund this year as I bought 4 Cedar Point Prestige passes with a 1000 fast lane each and that is still the price. I just find it a bit upsetting that folks can now use a 500 all season fast lane pass at Cedar Point. My sister in law lives about halfway between Carowinds and Kings Dominion and we go to each once or twice a season. If these shenanigans continue next season I guarantee I’ll renew at one of those and save the $2,000. It’s a ridiculous system they put in place but I’d expect nothing less from Six Flags.

Wow! I was under the impression that the all-season Fast Lane was only valid at your home park. Wasn’t that how it worked in the past, or am I just confused?

If it applies to all parks now, then that’s a deal, even at $999!

djDaemon's avatar

The thing I'd be concerned with if I were a All Season FLP holder would be the lower price leading to even longer FL queues. Then again, maybe I'm overestimating how many people snag this deal.

Brandon

jimmyburke's avatar

^Yes, but I doubt that the sellers of this product really care too much about longer lines in the FL queues. Entice many to purchase it for a cash grab.

Uncle Steve's avatar

^ They certainly enticed me! I went ahead and pulled the trigger earlier this morning.

Since CP is my home park and I visit frequently, I don’t usually worry about long lines; if a wait is too long, I just skip it and try again next time. I plan to apply that same logic to using Fast Lane.

I usually visit KI 4–6 times a season and don’t recall ever seeing the Fast Lane queue get backed up, even when standard wait times are over an hour. While I haven’t visited any of the other parks enough to get a feel for their operations, I expect they’ll be fairly similar to KI.

One thing's for sure: having the All-Park Fast Lane and a new bike is motivation to visit more parks this season.
Baby, I'm ready to go!

The all parks all season Fast Lane has been $999 for the past several years. Individual all season fast lanes for parks other than Cedar Point were always cheaper but no matter what park you were getting the pass through the price for the All Parks option jumped to the $999.
