Lair of the Vampire/ CarnEvil

Lair of the Vampire

I was impressed with the "Lair of the Vampire". Much better then "Toxic Tunnel of Terror". Went through it today; it is similar in layout and sometimes even decoration to "Toxic Tunnel of Terror", but the added posters for rock concerts all over the place make it feel as though it is a concert hall infested with freaks, like the Agora or the Odeon.

The costumes are cool, very 80s metal. Not too mention the skeletons outside of the building in the queue area. These skeletons appeared to be dresssed as the members of "Poison". A well thought out haunted house, in my opinion.

CarnEvil

Since I went to Cedar Point on a Sunday, I was only able to see what this thing looked like during the day. This area looks to be awesome. I liked all the signs for sideshows like "Penguin Boy" and "Popeye" and whatnot. I can't wait till Saturday to see this one in action.

If you have seen or experienced either of these attractions, what did you think of them? Better for "HalloWeekends", or dissapointing?

I really have been meaning to go down to CP during Halloweekends. It's just hard to get down there with school and sports going on, but next year I'm making it a promise to go.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

I went through CarnEvil Friday night. To me it seemed like a smaller version of the Fright Zone. The 'Monkey Boy' with the crashing cymballs in the CarnEvil area helped cement this feeling for me.

I was severely disappointed with CarnEvil. The way it was described, I thought it would be like the Fright Zone only with stuff to stop and see. You know, circus freak stuff. Instead it was just a better-lit fright zone that didn't hold the fog as well and had a bunch of empty tents. Not impressed at all.

The Fright Zone was the best I've seen it. I swear they doubled the number of fog machines. Didn't check out Werewolf Canyon (huge line), but the barn looked really, really impressive from the outside.

I've never been to the park for the Halloween festivities. Judging from the pics on this site, the decorations and props look cool. I enjoyed viewing those photos of the "Lost Thrills" tombstones. A neat idea.

Am I the only one who thinks that in the ride graveyard, someone should knock over the tombstone for VertiGo?

Hahaha. That's great Ride Man. I was fairly suprised to see VertiGo included in the graveyard.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

I'm suprised to see VertiGo also b/c I thought it would be kinda a touchy subject with them. That's funny RideMan, you should knock it over!

Have they implemented one way Fright Zone's this season yet?

I was not impressed with either of the two new attractions.

Carnevil. What exactly was the purpose of the tents?

The Lair of the Vampire: I found this one to be totally boring. The "magnetic" wall would have been better off left out. A guy just stuck to the wall and tried to move. The best part though was the room that had some sort of shaggy texture to the wall and someone popped out from it. Knew someone was there but couldn't find them.

I thought Lair was better than Toxic. Although we were there yesterday, we didn't get to see Carnevil.

And I, especially, loved the dead ride graveyard! It was good to see the Schwabinchen lady, and to remember all those rides from the mid 1960's onward that are now deceased. The poem with the line "too big to bury" was a chuckler.

The best part of the day? Getting our first rollback on Dragster n the morning.

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

Yes, we passed by WereWolf Canyon, and I for one cannot wait to see what they did in that barn. WereWolf Canoyn has to be at LEAST twice the size it was last year.

Last year I was dissapointed with the Canyon, but this year I cannot wait to walk through and see what its all about.

And a question; what ever happened to all the cobwebs and spider themed stuff they had under the Millenium Force tunnel at the entrance to the Fright Zone? My entire group missed that, and all that hangs in there now is a single cheesy looking bat. That tunnel was always immersed in cobwebs and spiders, and there was a dude up on the ceiling wrapped in cobwebs.

They have really toned down "Pharoh's Secret". Very dissapointed with this one this year, but Undertaker U. is still the same great haunted house that it's been for years. The best thing that the Screamsters can do to scare people in my opinion is throw those aluminium trash cans around. Scared the hell outta the girls in our "posse".

Went Friday night and was completely disappointed in the haunted attractions (except Fright Zone which is a blast). Werewolf Canyon is a great concept, but has zero thrills. The fog is so thick and yet none of the characters emerged from the smoke to scare us. We saw them coming every time just standing behind netting. Heck, they have fake trees in it and no one was even behind those. In fact, the actors seemed bored and provided no effort, trying to protect their voices instead. The barn wasn't bad, but small.

Then came the Mortuary or Undertaker? (the one next to Werewolf Canyon), which did not provide one scare for us. Some of the actors just stared at us instead of doing anything. Lair of the Vampire was no better. We didn't even check out CarnEvil or the one in Disaster Transport becasue we were so disgusted, opting to ride the rest of the night.

In summary, if you have to wait more than 15 minutes for a haunted attraction, don't do it. Instead, go through Fright Zone several times....very well-done production (scary and funny). Check out the guy with the siren trash can. I also suggest watching the Monster Rock show over by Millenium Force...they sounded fantastic and it was a fun show.

YEAh everyone go see Monsters Rock there work so hard and i love everyone. Davette and all the other girls so such a great job of bring me to life. THe SHow just rocks and the fright zone is a blast I never got to go in it this year though.

Sunday was my first time going in a Haunted House and that was the Vampire one I thought it was boring in a way but it was fun going in the tunnel.

Also what are the other haunted house like>?

In all fairness, "haunted" attractions aren't really that cool once you're older than 14.

Unless of course you try Knott's or Universal..THey have awesome haunted attractions.

The car in my profile owns!

I think the Cedar Point haunted attractions are just fine for their audience and they serve the purpose for which they are intended. The extra attractions add to a great atmosphere - and this comes from someone who hates Halloween.

I'm spending the first weekend in Oct at PKI, and can't wait! It will be my first visit ever! :)

On friday night, CarnEvil was great. Thick Fog, tons of monsters and few people led to constant scaring of my girlfriend and her friend. Saturday night was disappointing. It seemed like there were less monsters and because of the wind the fog wasn't holding. The Lair of the vampire was absolutly horrible. Same thing as last year even with some of the same toxic decorations. THe layout was the same. The only good part was trying to walk through the spinning tunnel while being a little drunk. Good Times. The major problem with the Haunted Houses is that they let people in to quickly. I'd rather wiat in a longer line than run into the people ahead of us less than 2 minutes into the attraction. Overall I'd give Carnevil a B and Lair of the Vampire a D.
