If you want to look at it that way, Magnum has a similar ("boring") ending. It slows down, then does a little meandering back to the station.
Intamin has a history of rides that finish strong, and I think this one will fall along those same lines.
Anyone who think the finale looks a little tame, might be underestimating the Stengel Dives. I've been on Goliath (Walibi World, NL) many times, and the Stengel Dive is no joke. It literally feels like you're being thrown out of your seat, a totally unique experience. Just wait and see/feel... :)

I think this is the worst offseason yet, or should I say the best ride I've had to wait for during my time here on Pointbuzz. :(

I also feel that the theming will add more to the ride than what we think. Especially since the theming/scenery is part of the ride, part of the effect. Whizzing by the rocks at 60 mph will seem quite fast. I'm mostly excited about that. I wish more rides at CP were themed and that DT still had its orignial scenery.

Ahhh...that part of Magnum. I like to call that the victory lap. That's usually when everyone claps and catches their breath before pulling back into the station, not to mention waving at everyone as they cross the Challenge Park Midway. I'd imagine that Maverick's pull into the station won't have the same effect the track is completely flat there and not banked. By the way, the banked curve after the final brake run on Mantis always cracks me up. If you're on the right side of the train, it's always a trip creaping around that corner at 2 mph.

plus it is intended to be a little bit tamer for the kids... my 3 year old will be riding it with me this summer and if its nothing but all out the whole way through alot of the kiddies won't like it.
Wow. Is your 3 year old really 48in tall? If so, you should get him some basketball training stat.

He is WAY WAY beyond the 95th percentile.

Maverick Rides: 4
I love the ending! Those stengels look mighty sexy and awsome!:)
In all, I can't wait to ride Maverick and will not pass judgment on it (as should the lot of ya) untill May 12th.
Hold tight cowpolks, only 29 more days and 30 more nights to go till y'all can rangel (sp?) with that there Maverick!!:)

ha ha ha!! I was waiting for someone to ask about his three year old riding Maverick with him this summer. There's no way man.
As far as Maverick being boring, I don't think it will be. If I had to complain about the ending at all, it would be it is so high in the air. It would've been cool to have been near the ground so you could interact with non-riders on the midway. But, I know with the layout they have, that doesn't work. I'm just saying if I HAD to complain about the end of the ride, that's what I'd say.
I don't personally understand why they are putting the large, obstructing fences around the low points. Isn't the point of the ride to fly by rocks, canyons and trees. None of these things will be seen with huge walls around you- look at the pics- areas I'm concerned about include immediately after the heartline, the turn between the two inversions in the horseshoe roll, and the turn immediately after the air time hill... I understand safety concerns, but if there's a fence around the perimeter of the ride- what is the point of a fence around every single low point- it just takes away from the original ride concept imo...

It's hard to say how dramatically the brakes after the launch will reduce the speed...
It's not that hard to say...

Once again I cannot emphasize enough that I am not passing judgement on anything. Just sharing my personal opinion that Maverick's finale may not be that great to stimulate discussion, which it quite obviously has and I'm glad that Maverick has such loyal supporters. Besides, after riding it, I might find I am totally wrong, which hopefully I am.
One thing for sure we can all agree on, can't wait to ride it in one month from today.

My sentiments exactly. My daughter is 5, in the 98th percentile for her height, and she's just going to clear the magic 46" height for ID and DT. Granted we might be talking about a boy, but unless that kid is on some serious growth hormones, I don't buy it.

Tony and Tyler don't know if the wall will obstruct the view- really no one does because no one's ridden it, but by the looks of it, it will be obstructed
