Labor Day w/ Joe

I had the opportunity to meet Joe E. from GTTP at Cedar Point on Labor Day.  Even though Millennium Force was not running we all still made the best of the day.   KicksTheSky (aka Kristin) and I expected a small crowd when the park opened.  The crowd overall was moderate, Magnum, and Raptor had a 15-30 minute wait, Mantis had a small line in the morning which grew out to be a 45-60 minute wait later.  We met up with Joe E. around noon, and I have to admit that guy is freakin huge!  It reaffirmed my reason for my screenname Robodud.  I found that he is also friggin crazy, but it was great to meet him.  He really knows how to take advantage of airtime on rides.  We had great races on Meanstreak… I mean Gemini (Sorry Dan), got our .5 seconds of airtime on Mean Squeak, and got to see the progress of Maintenance Force (sorry Joe).  We took two spins on the train and saw the workers threading new cable through the Millennium Force.  By late afternoon they got the cable on the bottom wheels and have a long way to go.

When we met up with Joe, we first hit Gemini and listened to Oscar’s great schpiel.  This is when Kristin and I found out how crazy this giant is.  After going down the first drop, we thought Joe was being ejected at the top of the first turn of Gemini, only to find out that he had a not-so-snug lapbar J

I’m not sure of the rest of the order of the rides, but we also hit Raptor and as always took the back row.  We left Joe the “Death Seat.”  Great ride and awesome job by the Raptor crew!!   You guys really know how to keep a line moving.

We hit a lot of airtime on 2-2 and 2-3 of the Blue train on Magnum.  I was curious if the Devil Train’s (sorry again Dan) wheels were fixed, I never did get to find out L.  Unfortunately for me, I don’t know the ops as well as Joe and I was stapled into my seat.

We also hit Blue Streak, Disaster Transport, Iron Dragon, and Corkscrew.  Basically Kristin and I hit all of the open coasters and joined Joe later.  It was great to meet someone else from CB/GTTP and we would like to meet more of you at MM!!

Don’t forget Joe, you owe us a steak lunch ;)

"Maintenance Force" is  actually copyrighted by Hooper, and is the best slogan the ride has had up to date.

And darn those Arrow lap bars, they have too much give to them. I'm glad they put seat belts on there rides, because that lap bar comes down none it seems with my big legs. That second hill on Gemini always takes me by surprise, I guess I need to ride it more. ;).

So, do Kristin and you want Fillet's or New York strip? :)

You forgot to add what we overheard two teenage guys say on "Magnum XL2000" (lol)...."Millennium Force is closed because somebody died on it..It was on the news!"
Considering the news coverage, somebody might as well have died on it... they made a big deal about how lucky we were that nobody died, and they said that accidents are up 90% this year (this was from Fox 8.) I can almost see why somebody would get confused!
