Kudos, phones allowed!

I was there yesterday and the metal detector is just before the stairs in the regular queue. You get a red stamp if you have items that need to go in pouch. You get a green if you don't have any. The fast lane metal detectors is at the top of the stairs. Metal detector itself doesn't slow anything down. Putting and taking stuff out of the pouches is the system that could add some time, I certainly could learn to get more proficient at it.

One thing I am not sure on is if you could just use zippered pockets or not. One employee told me you can keep your phone and keys only in zippered, guy in station though said it is not allowed. Obviously it was their very first day dealing with this and they just got trained on the metal detectors the day before so they got to learn this system too of course.

Insert Scarlet Letter joke here. I don't really get the point of the metal detector. The idea there is that metal detectors are finding all loose articles, which simply isn't true. And now it seems like the ride ops will have to check everyone's hand for a hand stamp color, and then somehow check the pouches for anyone with the red stamp of doom on their hands to make sure their stuff is in it?

It seems a lot easier to just to tell people that everything in your pockets must go into the pouch, and then spit out the misdemeanor verbiage to put some fear into them.

It ran a lot smoother than expected. Because the standby line checkpoint is at the bottom of the stairs, theres not really a backup.

I’m definitely all for safety. However, Tony should’ve noted the metal detectors for SV line in February at WCO; (definitely not complaining or a knock on Tony or Management, but they did mention the pouches, I’m guessing they must not have known about the metal detectors at WCO). Again not complaining or knocking management, as I’m all for safety, just saying they should’ve let the GP know earlier than a week ahead of time is all.

Why?

Brandon

The metal detectors are being used because someone got hit with a phone again on twisted Timbers on the first weekend KD was open, so they added the metal detectors on that ride a bit into the season

CP Top 5: 1) Steel Vengeance 2) Maverick 3) Magnum 4) Raptor 5) Millennium

Time to prepare, of course. Now we only have 4 days to figure out how to complain about it on Pointbuzz.

Not that we're complaining.

^ahh yes, that makes sense.

And, here I thought it was so one could wow and amaze all their friends with secret insider knowledge weeks ahead of park opening.

New for 2024- Wicked Twister Plus

New things are implemented all of the time. The park doesn’t owe anything to any of us ahead of time. You paid your admission ticket or season pass for the amusement aspect of CP. Not for metal detector locations.

As long as the pouches are on the ride, that's all I care about. My friend who carries her phone shouldn't have to pay $$ for a locker. In a way, it's like paying to ride steel vengeance, if you have stuff to put away. Plus, we ride it more than once, usually in the day then later at night.

Yeah, after seeing these pouches in action at KD, there’s no way SV will be hitting any sort of interval. Might as well just run two trains and call it a day.

At least we'll have some cool hand stamps.
