Kudos, phones allowed!

Thanks for thinking outside of the box Cedar point đź‘Ť adding zipper pouches to Steel vengeance is a major accomplishment from last year. Nothing like waiting in the longest line and not being able to be using the Cedar point app to check ride times or playing battle for Cedar point. So proud of you, now for all the dumb people who put their phones in their tiny tight shorts, Don't forget your phones on the ride. THEY Can't make it easier for you.

^Outside the box? I used the zipper pouches in Twisted Colossus a week ago. LOL

Outside the box compared to SFGAdv, Moreys, and Universal who are still stubborn about it.

I dunno what topic to post this but another person has been hit by a cell phone on Twisted Timbers so now they have metal detectors just before entering the station. From what I read you get a stamp if you have cell phone or keys and must put them in pouch. Obviously wondering if Steel Vengeance will get them.

Given how much has gone down with Steel Vengeance, I would not be surprised if something like that went into play.

I guess relying on people to put their items in the pouches is too much to ask.

As long as I can bring my cell phone and keys in line, it really doesn't look all that annoying to me. More staff will be needed but thinking about won't need the staff anymore that used to patrol the queues looking for phones.

Shame on a person making things more of a hassle (I'm not certain but I read they were trying to take a POV) but at least Cedar Fair here is still allowing a free option to store the items in a safe location and is making more known than ever how important it is to do so.

As long as phones are allowed in lines, I will continue to ruin the stupid hold your phone to your head charades game for people playing it. Ever try it? Its fun and they hate you for it.

First ride; Magnum 1994

I’ve been told several of the zipper pouches on TT are torn. So then what? Blindly out your stuff in the ripped pouch and listen to it rattle around your feet before being launched out of the train?

ROUNDABOUND.

That sucks. I was wondering how durable they'd be. Seems like there'd be something that would be durable enough to handle the rigors of the task - I was thinking similar to the material that a good book bag is made out of (like canvas or nylon?) with a good quality zipper. I think I saw a see through panel on them which seems like it wouldn't be as durable.

I don't know what the answer is. They need something like a free double sided lockers and an entrance/exit that run parallel to each other at a point near the station. Probably not an easy retrofit at this point, but maybe for the next new ride, they could think about it in the design.

Personally, I'd rather they give away the lockers instead of giving away they gate price like they seem to be doing this summer.Of course people have come up with all sorts of reason they NEED their phone these days so maybe even that wouldn't be good enough.

That was probably before the recent phone-meet-face incident. Prior to recently, TT apparently didn't announce the pouches much and they were just *there*.

Now that they announce the pouches, and that almost everybody will be using one, replacing them or at least patching the holes might be a standard maintenance item.

The answer is people with common sense who will put their dam phone in a pouch or their pocket and leave it there until the ride is over.

Okay, I know I'm dreaming.

^ that’s an infeasible answer.

That's pretty awesome. But I'd be curious... if the "loose articles" mechanism breaks down, do they close the ride as well?

That just looks like a suspended version of what has been on wheeled carts at Volcano at KD for years.

Gemini 100 (6/11/01)

Was just at Magic Mountain for 2 days (first ever visit). They had bins or shelves on all coasters except X2. Single use on or near platform lockers for $1 or $2. Operations were SLOW SLOW SLOW but the park was not super crowded. Also clear pouches on the seat backs for Twisted Colossus. Saw phones out in hand once on Goliath and on their Mine Train. The Yukon system is interesting. We usually don't have any at CF parks due to the disposable cup all season option but we had to use them at Magic Mountain because they only gave the souvenir cup member option.

CP Coaster Top 10: 1. Steel Vengeance (40 rides to date) 2. Top Thrill Dragster (191 launches to date, 4 rollbacks) 3. Magnum XL 200 4. Millennium Force 5. Maverick 6. Raptor 7. GateKeeper 8. Valravn 9. Rougarou 10. Gemini

I'd like to see that Wonderland system in use! I knew something like this would come to be eventually. Curious of that's something that is home grown or if they hired someone to build it. At first glance, it looks a bit like something home grown and it might have some issues, but it's definitely the right idea and a lot more clever than most of the "solutions" we've seen so far. I'd like to see them get something like that perfected and implemented everywhere.

Per CP Rundown, Steel Vengeance will also have metal detectors this season.
