Knott's Berry Farm

I'm taking a trip to Anaheim later next month to go to Knott's Berry Farm. For anyone who's been there, any suggestions? What are the must do's? I'll be there for two days and then Disneyland one day.

My only suggestion is to flip your itinerary. You'll need the time at DLR & DCA a lot more than you will KBF. But have fun either way!

ROUNDABOUND.

Yes you can do all the rides at Knotts in less than a day, but then you will miss most of what the park is about. Unless you go on a Saturday, you'll have plenty of time to hit everything. There is a lot to just see in this park, there is a lot of detail to observe and absorb. Here you can get an idea of what George Roose originally wanted to do with the Frontier Trail and Frontiertown at CP.

Disney is a hot mess right now, with a major portion of the Magic Kingdom shuttered for the Star Wars expansion, and DCA having the Tower of Terror revamped for Guardians of the Galaxy. No discounted admission (other than the usual ones available) and the mice keep coming in hoards.

If you're getting in with an already purchased Platinum Pass consider getting a Fastlane. Depending on the "off-season" maintenance schedule some rides may only be running one train which makes waits unnecessarily long. I went over an Easter weekend and Silver Bullet, Xcelerator and Ghost Rider were all 1 train op with the other trains in various states of off-season repair. This will help your day be more relaxing.

I also recommend flipping your trip and just doing 1 day at Knott's and two at Disney. Or even try to get a side trip out to SFMM if possible.

Don't forget to eat at In and Out!

Thanks! That's exactly the advise I need. I must have underestimated how much time is needed for Disneyland. I'm only there for 3 days at the parks, so I'll probably change my plans so I have one park for each of the 3 days.

I did DL/DCA in one day with a park hopper and some strategy and fastpasses. But it wasn't relaxing and I didn't get to do a lot of things I would like to have done. Possible? Yes. But I would have done two days if my schedule would have allowed it.

Also if you plan on eating at Disney, take the time and go on their website and make a reservation. It'll save you some time as well. And like Disney in Orlando take advantage of their fastpasses, they still use a paper ticket system, no magic bands.

Just got back a few weeks ago... Ghostrider, Calico Mine Ride, Ghostrider, Xcellerator, Ghostrider, Silver Bullet, Ghostrider, Jaguar! (for a rest and tour of the park), Ghostrider, The Stagecoach, Ghostrider, Iron Reef, Ghostrider, Timber Mtn. Ghostrider, Frontier Stunt Show (Sit in a covered wagon!), Ghostrider, and Ghostrider.

If you have time, Ghostrider.

Lines were nil during the week. It was fantastic.

Eat at Mrs. Knotts Chicken dinner for dinner.

Those are my must-do for a trip to KBF.

I enjoyed COASTrider a lot, but it is not everyones cup of tea.

For food I was planning on Knott's Chicken Dinner and Rainforest Cafe. Wolfbobs also suggested In and Out so I'll try that, and I heard that Blue Bayou and Cafe Orleans are good. Yay or nay on those last two?

In and out is a must.
Look up 'off menu items' or you will miss the best part of it.
Animal Fries are great.

In and Out is over rated, and over priced for what you get. It has achieved legendary status in Southern CA,right up there with Cincinnatian's affection with Skyline Chili, and Pittsburghers with Primanti Bros. Go ahead and try it, it's not a bad burger. It's just that after living out here for forty plus years I've found that it just doesn't live up to the hype.

I would never compare In n Out to that disgusting chain known as Skyline. However, after having the opportunity to be around In n Out for 40 years, I can see why it may be overrated to you. But when you are on the east coast and have never had it, it's definitely worth the try when you're out west.

Hey, leave my Skyline alone. I had it for lunch just today, in fact. Yum.
I'd agree it's a taste you either love or hate.
I've never been close enough to an In n Out burger, but you can bet I'll try it if I ever am. Maybe Vegas, someday.

What I'd drop from Kyle's itinerary is Rainforest Cafe. Now there's one overrated tourist trap.

Skyline beats the snot out of In & Out. I&O isn't bad, but, it's just a decent fast food burger. Skyline is unique and a truly special local delicacy.

And if you really want to try a Rainforest Cafe there is some a lot closer than Anaheim to you. The food is mediocre, and service is spotty in the two that I've eaten in, and they are pretty much look the same inside.

Eating anywhere besides inside the main park at CP is absolute culinary delight, here's to hoping they can figure out some possible way to make Mrs. Knotts chicken in Ohio someday.

Most so called legendary fast food chains are way overrated. There are plenty of burger choices all over the U.S.A. better than In and Out, you just have to get away from fast food. As far as CP, really the only thing I tend to complain about are the midway burgers. I had high hopes when Ouimet made it a point to go to fresh, never frozen burgers but they sadly never made it to CP. Matter of fact, I had an absolutely substandard fish sandwich at Wendy's the other day that made me pine for the Lakeside Refreshments perch sandwiches.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Rumor has it Pete, (I mean I did see it on Facebook CPFOODBLOG, so it has to be true) that the perch sandwich at Lakeside refreshments is back on the All Season meal plan.

Outstanding if that turns out to be true!

As a big fan of In&Out I will be the first to admit that it is JUST fast food. BUT it is also something you can't get in Ohio (for now) and is worth trying if you've never had it. When I travel I tend to avoid national fast food chains as much as possible for a quick meal if there is a regional local option I can try, even if it is just a fast food burger.

If it's your Skyline, you make some really ****ty Chili. Like, spaghetti is literally not Chili. Also, ditch the cocoa and cinnamon, this isn't Starbucks...it's Chili
