kings island

On August 11 and 12 I will be at kings island for the first time and had a few questions. First do they have bins like cp to put my back pack in and what rides don't like dragster or millie. Second what are food prices like down there. I just starting to prepare and was just wondering.

I WILL ALWAYS KICK THE SKY.

Firehawk and FoF do not have bins, everything else does.

Food prices are comperable to CP (sorry) but the quality is slightly better if you choose to buy the local chains in the park (LaRossa's Pizza, Greaters Ice Cream.)

LaRosa's is disgusting with a capital D. If you like cardboard with tomato and oily cheese, you might like it.

^Thats not been my experience, the crust has been soft and foldable. Its not the best pizza Ive ever had (will always be a Chicago pizza fan) but its pretty good and beats their other offerings.

Hey, cardboard can be soft and pliable when it gets wet, but it's still cardboard. :)

Only place I have ever been where I actually complain about trees. There are sooo many trees and few high rides. Often I found it challenging to find ride entrances. The beast was a challenge to find.

Also ride down time was unfortunate.

I'm going out to get some air.

Keep in mind, if you order a pizza as a whole from Larosa's, you can request the crust type! You usually get better results that way...

Also, the 20 oz. pop's (call it pop since I'm from the midwest) from the machines are $3.75 now.

$3.75??? That's highway robbery!

There is a sign in the FoF queue that says that you can hand your loose articles to a ride op and they will take them to the unloading platform. Obviously they aren't responsible if your stuff gets lost, stolen, damaged, etc., but the lockers outside make it seem like you can't bring any loose articles in the line. Also, be sure to check out Boomerang Bay, the free waterpark attached to Kings Island. If you are a Platinum Passholder I believe you will get into KI a half hour early, although their perks page doesn't really make it very clear.

KI is well known for its blue ice cream that you can get in Nick Universe. If you want to buy tickets for their pay extra space shot or swing attractions (I don't know exactly what they are called) you should go by early in the morning. You should be able to get tickets for $5 each and use them any time during the day. But if you wait to get the tickets later in the day they will be more expensive.

Four discount funday tickets to Cedar Point: $130.96
Overnight stay at Breakers Express: $70
Riding rides the size of skyscrapers while "legally" breaking the local speed limit: Priceless

The beast has been my favorite roller coaster since I was a little kid. I also like Invertigo (Face Off) and definately Flight of Fear. There is also Diamond Back which I think is a great ride contrary to some other people. Kings Island has a great selection of coasters although nothing that compares to MF or Dragster. The thing I like better about KI is the line waits. I have not waited over 20min for a ride there in years. I went a few weeks ago and most lines where 5-10min. I think that makes up for the lack of large coasters. Also, last I heard SOB was still closed down.

I guess I am nasty because I agree with touchdown. I have always enjoyed Larosa's Pizza!

I've never been to impressed with the food at KI. I found Greaters to be very expensive even on the CP price scale. It was good ice cream. The Skyline chili was good and not badly priced.LaRosa's pizza didn't excite me. Wings is a buffet similar to Midway Market.

I have never eaten at wings. Are the prices similar to Midway Market?

CP Nut

I checked on it and I believe that Wings is closed down.

I just checked the KI map. Wings is now called Rivertown Junction Dining Hall. The map says it's still a buffet. Last year the price was similar to Midway Market.

When we were there in July, the prices at Rivertown Junction were something like $17 or $18/person, I think....or in that ballpark. It seemed outrageously high.

My author website: mgrantroberts.com.

Was that lunch or dinner? MM is $16.75 for dinner and 3 or 4 dollars less for lunch. We are going to KI next week.

We like LaRossa's Pizza. We have always bought a whole pizza, and it has been fresh, hot and good. It's not Chicago deep dish but for amusement park pizza we think it is really good.

Please remain in your seat until the ride comes to a complete and final stop.

Fresh and hot is not my problem. I think the pizza smells like vomit, and tastes pretty damn close.

As far as all you can eat deals, see if they still have the backyard BBQ. It's something like $13 for all you can eat burgers, dogs, good fried chicken, ice cream and beverages.

They do still have the BBQ special. Never had it though.
