I just have never liked SF. I have never felt safe on any of their rides. They own so many parks, which makes it impossible for them to operate, clean, and maintain their rides. They don't have enough money to clean up their parks because they're building unreliable rides like X and Kingda Ka.

I won't yell at you Kyle, I think many people have been saying that SF shouldn't have gotten a ride like this. Look at how much work TTD is for the CP maint. crew to keep running, and I think it is widely known that the CP maint. crew is far better than most SF crews.
I've said it once and I'll say it again, SF's building this ride was a knee-jerk reaction to CP building TTD. I'm sure planning started before TTD even opened and SF signed papers and chunked over cash way before they saw the problems that TTD was having.
I remember seeing a date of July 03 thrown around for when the latest that SF would have signed the contract. If they signed it around that time, Intamin was probably promissing them that the problems were a one time thing that would be worked out either in their design or some other BS promise. Of course, KK hasn't had any problems with cable breaks or metal shavings in the motor, so Intamin may have pulled a "Detroit Lions" (and just found brand new imaginitive ways to screw up).

At least this incident brought to light a new reason for more concern about Dragsters safety. That is, like bholcomb said, this will cause CP to go to lengths to see that something like what happened to KK doesn’t happen to Dragster. *** Edited 6/15/2005 2:10:55 AM UTC by TTD 120mph***
-Adam G- The OG Dragster nut
I remember Memorial weekend 03' when Dragsters cable broke. It looked kinda sad sitting there so quiet. Annnnnnnnnnnnnnyway Kingda Ka was built just asking for trouble. to read another portion about Kingda Ka, go to www.rideAccidents.com. But of course their dragster style is going to be worse b/c its six flags. They are "accident city". Not a certain one either. All of them suck. Just being honest.

Greatly said. I agree with everything you said. I always suspected those brakes would one day cause a problem. Good thing there were'nt any people on the train because they would have had a field day with law suits, and with Six Flag's financial problems, they would have had trouble. *** Edited 6/15/2005 3:39:12 AM UTC by Top Thrill 182***
Thrills Around the Corner!
according to a six flags representative, the "liner" came loose on the track during the launch and caused damage to the train and the track. at least this is what about.com is indicating.

i hope this doesn't mean TTD will close until they figure out WHY it came loose.
They won't close TTD because one park has bad luck with their rocket coaster. When TTD had a cable snap, Xcelerator wasn't closed a Knott's Berry Farm so they could determine why the cable snapped on TTD.
Once again, TTD will not close because KK had a problem and SF can't figure out what happened.

Heh, wasn't Xcelerator already down anyway because of that whole State of California/Intamin T-Bar fiasco?
When the Chaos at Michigan's Adventure failed weren't all of those rides at other parks, including CP, closed for a few days until the cause of the problem could be determined?
I see a big difference between a cable snapping and what happened with KK. While no one wants it to happen a cable failure to some extent is inevitable, so a failure of that type is not going to be a reason to shut down other similar rides. However, whatever happened to KK to result in the damage it has sustained would in my opinion not be considered a normal failure.
So how can anyone say that Intamin will not tell CP to shut down Dragster? While it might be a public relations issue for the parks, since this is dealing with safety I would bet that the risk of a failure on Dragster outweighs the public relation issue, at least in Intamin's eyes.

That's at Michigan's Adventure, one of Cedar Fair's other parks. Cedar Fair does not own and operate Six Flags: Great Adventure. So if Kingda Ka breaks down, that doesn't mean that TTD will also be shut down.
That's like saying since Great American Scream Machine malfunctions and stops in a loop, that Corkscrew, and all other Arrow Looper coasters will be shut down until they can determine what happened.

What happened with Chaos was much more serious and Chance Morgan told the parks to close the rides down probably.
You have to remember that KK's running system has the same concept as TTD's but Intamin made quite a few changes over the past 2 years to their rocket coasters. I'm thinking the problem lies in one of those new features on the ride that TTD doesn't have.

Once again, you're wrong. TTD has closed and they are very concerned with what happened with KK. It could happen to TTD.
^ TTD isn't closed because of KK. TTD had a problem as well and has been shut down till the replacement part has arrived.
