I don't believe a cable fray would stop the ride in mid-launch, unless there is some sort of sensor that stops the launch on KK that TTD does not have. So if the ride did stop during launch then it must have been a cable snap. Which I could see happening this early with a dare I say "layed back" Six Flags maitenance crew.
No need to be coy. Six Flags poor safety and maintenance records are common knowledge at this point.

LOL Michael, found this snippet in one article from your link and lost it.
"Nobody at Cedar Point was willing to comment, but Dan Keller's suspenders informed the ARN&R research team that Six Flags is also working on a similar system based upon where the bloody, mangled bodies tossed from Kingda Ka land. The Six Flags system is due to be implemented shortly after the first fatality on the new record-breaking ride, which is expected sometime the first week of May, 2005."

It looks like they're working hard. ;)

Something major had to go wrong for them to cover it with the tarp. Why not let us see the damage? CP didn't cover it over with a tarp and hide it from the public did they? I don't recall seeing that.
Was anyone on this?

If you mean "was there riders during this?" then no there wasnt. Or do you mean something else?

Someone made an interesting point of Coasterbuzz. SFGA would have had to plan for this ride at least 2 years ago. Where does that put the papers being signed? A couple of months after TTD opened or possibly even before that. How would SF's know the problems TTD would have in the future? THey wouldn't. They probably could have thought just as we did that TTD was having some opening problems. And by the time it was realized TTD was having serious problems SF's had probably put a million or so dollars down on the project.
Let's hope they're right. I sure don't hope SFGA had seen the problems during development(before construction and whatnot) and just figured "KK WILL NOT have as many problems because its slightly different from TTD!" or something.
Because if they did, then boy were they counting their chickens before they hatched.

Too bad they can't get it torn down and a full refund before someone dies on it.
I have been on Dragster many times and still breathe a sigh of relief when it's over. I love the ride but I just get really nervous about these two rides.
Dragster seems to be running pretty good so far this year.
I agree, Dragster ran very very well last year, & so far this year hasnt been 1/4 as bad as 2003....
Top Thrill Dragster....Always number one
I don't think anyone will DIE....on TTD OR KK. Believe it or not but SF does care about your safety as riders (CP does more though).
Plus, I think the chances of something dying are 1 in 1,000,000+. You probably have a higher chance of....well.....getting struck by lightning.
Oh wait! Point proven.

I find the signs for KK will not be open today very amusing.
Why?

Do you ever have a point in any of your relentless and pointless rants?
I take it all of you are going to stay up past your bedtimes and have a party because Kingda Ka broke down?
Actually, the party was this afternoon. Sorry, you missed it.
Lighten up.....
-Adam G- The OG Dragster nut
Lighten up? Sorry if my comments are coming across as too aggressive or whatever but the anti-Kingda Ka theme needs to stop. It's getting old, tiring, and it still doesn't have a point or a place on these boards. This thread has turned into nothing but an anti-Kingda Ka pile of speculative crap. It's better suited over at Coasterbuzz where there is already a thread going on about it.
Relentless and pointless? Ya, whatever freak. You are the only one to ever complain and I KNOW if I had crossed that line someone would have said something long ago. I have seen some of your posts and buddy they are nothing spectacular.
I am hardly partying because of Kingda Ka I was concerned. I don't think you saw me going "ha f'ing ha" did you?
You have a serious attitude problem and if I wasn't a girl I would adjust it for you.

I'm so sick of this fanboy crap that Six Flags doesn't maintain their rides and doesn't care. Guess what? They do care. You don't think that Six Flags doesn't have a few decent repair men in the chain that they can ship to SFGA to fix this thing. SF's has their down times but how many of the fanboys have ever been to a real SF's park not counting WoA which was a complete diaster. Six Flags is on the cutting edge of technology which I'm afraid to say might be more advanced than some of Cedar Point's rides. We have nothing that can touch X. Superman the Escape set off the coaster wars. CP fanboys are getting laughed at all over the place on other forums with their egos for their park. Just because amusement today says that CP is number 1 doesn't mean that every park has to bow down to CP's superiority. To be honest, I enjoy IoA more than I do CP.
I honestly think the only reason people think so badly about Six Flags is because you hear more about people being injured or dying at their parks. I know some of the deaths in recent years were heart problems and employees who did stupid things like being in restricted areas and all but the public just remembers "deaths" and not specifics.
Thing is they have more parks so of course they will have more problems.
