Kiddy Kingdom

My view has always been, since people dump their kids there anyway...

Spoken like a true twentysomething who'd rather chop off her left arm than have a few younguns of her own right now. EDIT: That was my first impression before I realized you were an employee

Do people really dump off their kids and leave? Yikes. Personally I'd call the CP Police on those jerks. Better yet, call me over if I'm in the park........or maybe you shouldn't. I'd rather spend my cash on soda and t-shirts than on bail.

Hmmm, parents dump their kids off? Nah...never happens. (This coming from someone who spent many hours in Lost Persons.)

No, nobody would EVER leave their 2 and 5 year old alone in KK or on the Train for hours on end so they can ride MF. I personally would rather spend the day there with a few kids than alone now since I have ridden everything a couple million times. Parents dumping kids off, tying kids to fences, leaving them on benches, telling them to stay on the train, and various other methods are more out of hand than you would imagine.

I remember being thrilled when I was big enough to be allowed in the Yellow and Green balls at Kid Arthur's Court. That was the highlight of my summer that year.

Ahhh...the ball pit. I took lots of CBaby & 'Midget pics in VF's pit the minute they announced our PT would be replacing our version of the same area. They couldn't get enough of it.

I can't imagine any parent with half a brain who'd fail to take advantage of the Parent Swap program. While waiting for the other grown folks to board PT in '99, I snatched my kids and got on the Matterhorn, Super Himalaya, Troika, Riverboat Cruise, Bumper Cars, Troika again, Super Himalaya again, Matterhorn one more time and then took my turn on the Turbo Drop....all in one hour. Who'd want to stand in line instead? Yeesh.

Ditto on the Parent Swap. We go with our entire family and are able to effectivly (and legaly) use the swap so that EVERYONE has a great time. Between cell phones and walkie talkies, we are never idle....

I think KK needs to be freshened up a bit but or the most part, leave it alone. The kids are not as impressed with all the flash as much as we would like to think they are. They enjoy the rides for what they are.

speaking of KK, I did some research and found that KK used to have a roller coaster. Does anyone have more info on this?
CP has been a family tradition since 1974 for me (when I was KIddy Kingdom height) and at no time do I recall a coaster there.

That should cover the first 28 years, I think....

Perhaps he was thinking of the Scamper, which I believe was on the current Matterhorn site. I've been trying my hardest to find photos of that thing but haven't been able to. I remember it vaguely from when I was 2 or thereabout (yes, I remember my first visit to the park rather vividly).

There was a coaster in Kiddy Kingdom. It was there prior to the current version of Kiddy Kingdom. It was my first coaster, I was probably 4 or 5, so that makes it mid 1960's. I talked my big brother into going on it with me (he was 7 or 8). It was a small steel coaster but must have scared me pretty good because it was 10 years before I rode another coaster.

Yes, Mike is right, Kiddie Kingdom was called Kiddieland, and there was a small steel coaster for kids in about the place where Kraly Kars (kids dodgem) are now. I can verify that from personal experience riding it many times.

Scamper was on the site of the current Matterhorn. Right next to Jungle Larry's Safari Island, which was the first version of later year's Jungle Larry African Safari. Scamper was a wooden wild mouse ride that was quite violent, no way was it a kiddie ride. It was one of two wild mouse rides at CP, the other was a steel wild mouse, but that one was a little before my time. I remember Scamper very well though, I wish it were still here!

It's very hard to drink all day...
Unless you start first thing in the morning.

Even this is an old topic, its very interesting!! And I also think that KK needs a new paint job or SOMTHING!

Too bad I can't remember what the old CP was like.. lets just say the first time I went there, I was too little to remember.. but I was afraid of magnum! lol!
