KI opening weekend... Fun, but definitely not CP!!

(Let me preface by adding that I don't post much, but this is Mikeybo2004's wife)....

We arrived home this evening (mikeybo is snoring...lonnnng drive)... had fun, but definitely NOT CP!! We drove in to KI Friday, and stayed till Sunday afternoon...went to park both days... not too crowded, lines not too bad...

The one thing we kept noting and giggling about (silly people!!) The lines for season passes were ENORMOUS... Both days!! WHY would you not come another day...there were people standing in line still when we left Sat....

The guys rode just about all of the coasters xcept tomb raider... I spent both days pretty much in Nickelodeon-ville? (not sure what they call that area...) with the toddler in tow... KI is great for kids over 36"...our little one was 4 in. too short and there wasn't much for her to ride...BUT, the characters throughout the park definitely made up for that. The Dora show was fantastic (for she and I..not Mike's cup of tea...).

The BEST part of staying in Nick-ville was that *drumroll please* I ran into none other than The man himself... Mr. Kinzel!! And, he was nice enough to take time to snap a photo with Destiny and I.... I told him what a wonderful job the ride ops were doing in kiddie land.... that was another thing- not that many rides, but the ride ops were (in my opinion) a step above CP's normal kiddie ops.... they were very friendly with the children and helpful. I thanked him for the pic, adding that THIS should make my husband jealous...he's one of CP's biggest fans...

I had to brag to Mike...then later on in the day we saw Mr. Kinzel again, and Mike had to say hi....

Other observations: CP's main arcade kicks KI arcades' butts. * CP needs some more characters at the park... I know they have some scheduled ones, but it was really fun to see them in the park- Desi loved it! * Grown men over 200 lbs should NOT sit in the wagon. That is why we were carrying it back to the car. A wheel popped off. LOL.

Mike can fill you in on the coasters...I didn't ride any this time.... We can't wait for CP to open!!!!!!!! I need to practice my maverick logo for the cake... It's coming up fast!!

Glad to see you all had a good time, the area you were talking about is called Nickelodeon Central. What did you think of KI's cleanliness?, have made some improvements? Saturday we had around 35,000 people that day, so yeah we were kept busy. Its kind'a funny how we Park Services wear bright yellow so its easy to spot us. *** Edited 4/23/2007 5:58:29 PM UTC by Daniel Smith***

Quote from a Corkscrew ride op, "And Dragster is down again"

When we went on saturday and sunday. That was the first time I had been there in 8 years. So there was really no comparison for cleanliness. But, I did not see any problems in clealiness. I did not spot anything that looked like it had been ignored. I did see a problem with ride ops not checking seat belts. A guest could have easily not been wearing a seatbelt and they would have been able to ride without buckled.

Peace, Mikey

Nick Universe is the actual name. ;)
It was Nick Central/Hanna-Barbera Land until last year's renovations. The area is definitely top-notch, in my books..and I'm a thrill-seeker. There's just no place better for kids to go.

The only thing I noticed that would be a cleanliness issue was that in Nick-ville, there was a lot of goose poop on the ground near the car ride toward the front.

I wish they would've had the spongebob water attraction on....it was hot enough :o)

I was impressed at the amount of guests that actually follow the designated smoking area's. Granted there were people being rude and smoking where ever they wanted.

You're right when you say KI is definitely not CP. CP, however, isn't open in April. It was a great weekend to be there though, the longest line we waited in was for lunch. I think everyone was outside the park in the season pass line. I don't think they renew by mail at KI.

I didn't like the giant Great Wolf Lodge sitting on top of the KI campground. Staying in a hotel isn't the same. I miss the campground. Other than that, KI seemed in great shape and the staff was very friendly.
