I guess what I find most interesting about this is that the expanded water park is included in admission. Does anyone think that CP may eventually combine theirs and utilize the property in between? I think there is a lot of potential if they were to open this up a bit but am not sure how that would relate to revenue loss from the ticket sales for soak city and challenge park. Perhaps it is more likely that Ki will gate their water park and charge a seperate admission in the future. Any thoughts?
No coaster will ever be too fast or too tall!
Any thoughts? Just 0ne... I wish I lived closer to Kings Island! Lets see Kings Island Gold pass is 69.99 which includes free parking, reserved parking, early ride times, free waterpark, bring a friend and other various perks.
Cedar Point season pass pre season 89.00? I haven't seen next years early buy yet. No free parking, No reserved parking, No free waterpark, no perks
Cedar Point won't ever make Soak City free. They get the resort guests to buy the tickets. Its a money maker so why change it?
Let's Get Weird.
All the former Paramount parks have 3 levels to their season passes. Whereas, the pre-paramount-cedar-fair parks only have 2 levels.

Not as long as resort guests are forking over more money to use the water park.

With Challenge Park there, there isn't a whole lot of Extra space anyway. Unless they got rid of the lot, which would be bad.

Hmmm anyone else confused as to why they didn't add something new and exciting like a water coaster instead of building another wave pool? People are saying that the water park is doubling in size for 2012, which sounds awesome. Then, I look at the new Soak City, and it looks like the same Water Works that I visited 20 years ago.
I'm sorry, but even CF's $10 million investments are failing to get me excited this year...
Ffej I agree that an extra wave pool is not much of an innovation or major thrill, but it is a much needed attraction at the waterpark. That park is jammed all summer especially around the main hub, the wave pool. Adding another wave pool allows for a much larger hub with more seating and a larger gathering space. Adding slides is always good but they have very small capacity, on the other hand wave pools offer a huge capacity for all age groups.
I think the new updates look great. Hopefully the "new shade" will be more natural and less large tarps.
I think this is really setting up KI's Soak City to be a separate gate in the future.

I have mixed emotions about this announcement...
The new wave pool is a brilliant idea. The current one is way too crowded, and the new one will supposedly have larger waves and a more intense feel. The new theme should be nice as well.On the other hand, I prefer a relaxed lazy river. The new one seems a little bit too intense to be a "lazy" river. More like a regular river... but overall, KI desperately needed to update this section of their park. I hope they still allow entry with regular admission, unlike CP.

I don't get it, they're adding like 18 acres to it. I don't see how a wave pool takes up 18 acres. That's all that there really adding

Comparing the old map to the new version online, I find it apparent where all the new real estate is going. It's not just the new wave pool, but all the space for chairs and umbrella stands around the pool. This is a fairly sizeable area.
Then there are all those new cabanas around the wave pool, and a large shelter of some type on the northwest side of the park.
There are two new sand volleyball courts, and acres and acres of grass to spread out on towels and blankets. In addition, the new entrance seems to take up a more substantial piece of land. On top of all that, I spotted a new walkway that extends from Snowy River Rampage, all the way around to the main walkway by Kookaburra Bay.
Does all this add up to 18 acres? It looks like it comes pretty close, to me.

So, CF is just gonna allow acres and acres of grass to be spread out on towels and blankets? If so I'm bringing the cheese puffs, so save me a spot.
Okay, you busted me. I believe that's my grammar faux pas for the year. Congratulations, and have a cookie. Or a cheese puff, if you prefer. :)

I know what you were trying to say I just read it the way I wanted to. I am not a English major by any means.
The KI water park overall capacity sucked given the volume of people who went there. This was absolutely the right thing to do, especially at a park where the water park is included with admission.
