Well i just talked with a manager at the TGI fridays by castaway bay and found out ill only be geting between 30 and 38 hours a week. Alot less then i thought seeing as most other people at the park get up to 60. I just dont know if it will be worth it for the money. Anyone have any thoughts? I figured it out after taxes houseing and about 70 a week for food i will only be gettin around 140 a week. and i wanted to save some so about 70 dollars a week i will have. Will this be enough to still have a decent time at CP? any thoughts are apprecitated it.
Im still going to try it out but i also wanted some people opinions.
The lack of hours is because you are working at the TGI Fridays that is open year round (at Castaway) which means you can't go over 40 hours. If you had gotten a job at the one on point, you could get 60+ hours. Looks like Cedar Point has been doing a lot of that, this year. Hiring you for a job but not telling you if you are at Castaway or Cedar Point. You could always call and tell them you want the Cedar Point Fridays because you were expecting to get a lot of hours, not under 40.
You need to talk to your manager or whoever it was you talked to in the first place to find out your hours. And as for why you can go over 40 hours, that is correct. Because that location is open year round and not seasonal, employees are not allowed to go over 40 hours because of overtime.
Doug, I'll be a server at the same Fridays and the manager told me when he talked to me over the phone, that once things got rolling in June and July that I would get as close to 40 hours a week as possible. But servers get tips so that is a lot of hours and could be a lot of money for me. I dont know how much they're paying cooks but based on past restaraunts I have worked at, 30 to 38 hours is a lot of hours.
I do see where you are coming from after taking out taxes, housing, and such If I were you I would definitely consider asking if you can switch to the other Fridays. Staying at this one probably wouldnt be worth your time if you're looking to save any significant amount of money.
