so here is my dilemma: i accepted my job offer for cedar point this summer and interviewed for the disney college program a week after. i didnt think i would get it, but i did. so what do i do??
should i just work at cedar point and see if working in that type of environment is even for me first and wait to do disney, or change my contract dates for CP so i can go to disney in august?
HELP!!

change your contract dates. i had the same thing happen in '10. most managers will be fine with it. Just as long as you provide proof of arrival dates and such.
You will love Disney by the way. CP is a great way to prepare for the program.

2012: TL Area 3 Sweeps
2013: TL Snake River Falls

2015: Ride Supervisor Sky Ride
What date are you starting your College Program? I think you should be fine, because I believe most of the fall programs start in late August. Just talk with your manager (Brian) about it, and he should be able to fix your contract. I'm actually processing in late because I'm doing the Spring program this semester. So if you have any questions about the College Program or Cedar Point, let me know! =)

2011: Raptor
2012: Raptor, Sky Ride and Wicked Twister
2013: Co-Team Leader of Sky Ride
2014: Supervisor of Slingshot/Skyscraper
its not so much getting the contract dates changed that has me worried, its what if i dont like working at cedar point? if i dont like CP, i probably wouldnt like disney. i have five years plus retail experience, absolutely no experience in an amusement/theme park. should i just decline the offer from disney and work at CP to see if the environment is something i like or just do it? haha

Just do both. You won't regret either! I thought the same thing, and loved each job for different reasons. It's just an opportunity you don't want to pass on with Disney.
2010: Corkscrew/Super Himalaya, Shoot the Rapids
2011: Shoot the Rapids, Sweeps, Mantis
2012: TL Area 3 Sweeps
2013: TL Snake River Falls

2015: Ride Supervisor Sky Ride
If it HAS to be one or the other, pick DISNEY! You will not regret that decision at all.
Cedar Point and Disney are two COMPLETELY different companies. You can't even begin to compare the two.

company wise, yes. job wise, no.

Depends on your attraction. I do think there are some big differences. For example I was always stressed at Disney but because of the numbers of people that come through those parks in a day. I mean there aren't loose article policies and much lower height requirements so less arguing. Its just overwhelming on busy days! At Cedar Point, I get stressed because we do have a lot of safety policies. A lot of them guests do not agree with so I've had a lot more guest issues. But I'd suggest you take Disney. The interview process and such, to me, was more stressful and I feel like if you turn it down, it lessens your chance of getting the same offer again. I don't know that for a fact though. Where as I feel Cedar Point apps and interviews are less stressful, and easier to come by. Again, all my opinion. But both will be good on resumes. And both will help you get a job at the other, if you want to do both at some point. :-)
I think you should do the Disney College Program instead of CP. You will have a better experience at Disney.

The Disney program will help you network with a lot of different people. Cedar Point will always be there, but if you have the chance to take the Disney program, do it. I was offered it and I ended up turning it down and still to this day I regret not taking that opportunity I had. On top of it, it's a plus to get experience with another park so you get to see a different look on how things are run to an extant. It is a big decision and ultimately it comes down to what you truly want, you can read everyone's opinion on here, but only yours will matter. If you want a solution, take a coin and make each side a decision, flip it in the air and while it's in the air one of the places will come to mind before the coin drops, and that's where you want more.
11 years.
I did the Disney Colleg Program back in 2007. It is a one time experience. I was hired to work at an amusement park that same year and I decided to do Disney College Program instead of working at the other park because I knew that the amusement park that I was hired to work at will always be there. Do the Disney College Program and apply at CP next year. It is just my option it's your choice.

I think you should try both. Call your manager and just change you end date and then you can do both.

And if you can't change your dates, go with Disney. You can always apply and work at Cedar Point next summer. Not as easy with Disney a 2nd time around.
I accepted the Disney program and selected the date of Sept 5 to check in at Orlando. I figured that way Cedar Point is no longer open during the day, only weekends. So I'd be up there all summer and then just go to Orlando where it's always summer haha.
I emailed Brian, so I hope he understands!!
