June 5th (long)

The day started with my Fiancée (Whitney) and I getting to the park at around 10am to get our season passes. Took about 10 minutes and we had the passes in hand. I can see how this process would take forever if there were a lot of people getting them at the same time. We have never had season passes before, so it was kinda cool skipping the line with all the ticket holders, and going to the season pass line that had no one in it.

First stop was MF, 45-minute wait. I had about 2.5 inches of slack in the belt. My waist isn’t big, it’s my thighs that kept me from getting more slack I think. All the years playing sports makes them big. Headed over to Mantis, this had about an hour wait, that line moves so slow we decided to get a Freeway stamp for the 2-3-time slot.

Head over to Dragster and saw that the wait is an hour long. Not to bad so decide to ride. Begged Whitney to give the ride a try. She said no, saying she is afraid of the height. She said she was going to Donut Time and would meet me at the exit. Fine, go to get in line and see that the time has been changed to 2.5 hours. It was around noon at this time and we had a 2-3 meeting with Mantis. I decide I would take a chance and ride hoping to get off the ride in time to make it to Mantis. The line was moving very very well. No breakdowns, no rollbacks, and about a minute or so between launches. In no time at all I was at the ride platform. Since I went on Dragster last year and sat in the front I just picked the shortest line. Blue train is loading and they are looking for a single rider. That’s me, so I take a seat in the 3rd row. Got off the ride a little after 1, I couldn’t believe how quick I got on and off the ride.

Since we had plenty of time, we decided this would be a good time to hit Magnum (15-minute wait). Ejector seat, airtime all through the ride, it was great. Get off Magnum around 1:40, and see that the line for Dragster Freeway is pretty short. I really wanted another ride, so I asked Whitney if she would care if I waited to get a stamp. This answer surprised me to death. “No, I don’t mind I think that I will get one too.” This can’t be coming from the girl that wanted nothing to do with the ride about an hour ago. I asked if she was sure, and she said yes. While waiting in-line for the stamp, there was a lady in front of us telling her husband that they were only giving out a 100 stamps, and after those 100 were gone, there were not going to be any more stamps handing out for an hour. I tried to explain to her that stamps were given out until they ran out for the day. She insisted that after 100 they were going to stop and wait an hour before giving more. She said it was nuts to wait 2 hours for a stupid stamp and left the line. Got our stamp for 6-7 at about 2:10pm.

It was now time to use the Mantis stamp. The line at this time was like an hour and a half. We waited 15 minutes thanks to freeway. Sat in the middle of the train, this was the best ride I have ever had on Mantis. Seemed a lot smoother than usual, maybe it was just me.

Since we hadn’t been to the back of the park yet, we thought now was the time to do so. While back there we hit Wave Swinger, White Water Landing, Gemini (15 minute wait) Blue train front row and Mean Streak. Mean Streak had about a 15 minute wait, still was rough, but not as bad a last year.

We were both hungry so we grabbed some chicken fingers and fries. While eating I looked over at Mine ride, train 2 was stuck on the lift hill. A ride op came walked up the lift and talked with the riders. A couple minutes later the train moved. Looked back over to Mine Ride a couple minutes later and train 2 was stuck again, once again the ride op walked the lift and talked to the guests.

We finished eating and since out meeting with Dragster was getting close we skipped Mine Ride. Whitney made the comment that she hadn’t seen a Dragster launch. We didn’t think too much about and headed over to it.

Came around the corner and saw a crane by the station. OH NO! Asked the entrance employee what happened, she told us that the cable didn’t snap but it was only holding on by a couple of threads. They knew the delay was going to be lengthy, but weren’t sure for how long. I asked her about our freeway stamp and she said if Dragster opened we could still use it even if our time had pasted.

With that news we headed to corkscrew. Front row ride, this seemed to give more airtime than I remember, very good ride.

We headed to the front of the park to ride Wicked Twister. 15 minute wait. We get to the air gates and the ride goes down. They were having trouble with the doors; air gates wouldn’t open and either would the exit doors. I have no idea what caused that. (Maybe some here can). Took about 15 minutes and the problem was fixed.

After WT we headed to Raptor. 45 minute wait, with no sign of life from Dragster we decided to get in line. Sat toward the back of the train, man was Raptor flying. One of the best rides I have had on it.

Blue Streak was next, front row walk on. Even this seemed to pack a bigger punch. Still no movement on Dragster, so we went to McDonalds, opps I mean Iron Dragon. The more I see the new colors the more I like it. 10 minute wait front row. New colors same ride. I still like it though.

Whitney hates Power Tower and has done both sides so I did drop side by myself. While up there waiting to drop I watched them work on Dragster. Nice view.

Got off from there and checked the status of Dragster. We watched for a while and saw them putting in the new cable. Not something that you see every day, so that was kinda cool. Went over and talked to the entrance employee and she said Dragster was done for the night. Whitney finally wants to ride it and it goes down. Oh well, we are going back in July so maybe she will have better luck.

At this time it was 9:30 and we were both tired, since this was a bonus day for us, meaning, we both had the day off from work, and we didn’t want to get our passes in July when we are going to be there for 4 days. So we decided it would be a good day to go and get a few rides in. The weather was great crowds weren’t bad. So for a day where we were just going to get passes and get a couple of rides in, it turned into an awesome day.

One more thing, the bugs were out in force yesterday. The dumb things were all over. *** Edited 6/6/2004 4:15:40 PM UTC by wingnut*** *** Edited 6/6/2004 4:19:42 PM UTC by wingnut***
