Well, I just got back from my trip to Cedar Point. I wish that I had another trip to look forward to soon, but that will probably have to wait until next year. Anyway, this trip was filled with new experiences. For one thing, this was my first trip as a father and husband. I got married in September and adopted my six year old daughter. Secondly, I have lost 100 pounds over the course of the last couple of years. I'm still a big guy, but I was able to ride several rides for the first time.
For this part of the trip report I will talk about our lodging. When I get a chance later, I'll post a part two and maybe a part three to talk about the rides and family aspects of the park.
For this trip, I stayed at the Maples Motel with a group of fifteen people. The group consisted of my wife, daughter, and I; my mother and father, my wife's mother and father, my four nephews, my brother in law and sister in law, and her parents. I made reservations for Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday for three family suites. The cost of each family suite was $67 a night with each suite having room to sleep six. We also got ten percent off the entire bill for booking two or more nights.
The Maples is a great place to stay. The rooms are old fashioned but clean and well kept up. The motel is only about a mile away from Cedar Point by way of the old scenic entrance. When we checked in, we discovered that we actually had been given two family suites and two adjoining rooms with queen sized beds and two single arrow beds. Although we actually had four rooms, we were still charged for three. Everyone was accomodated very comfortably, the pool was nice, the hospitality and location were great, and overall we had a great stay. I definately recommend this motel if you are looking for an affordable place to stay near the park. It is also nice getting into the park by the back entrance and not dealing with all the traffic at the beginning and end of the day.
...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!
