June 23 and 24 - Part 2

I started posting a trip report earlier today. I realized that it would be easier to divide it up into parts about different topics.

As I said in the other post, this visit to the point was my first visit as a father and husband.

My daughter is six years old. She loves Snoopy and is just barely over 46 inches tall. That means that she was able to experience her first "adult" roller coasters on this trip.

Cedar Point is a great place to take young kids. The four children's areas arranged at the front and the back of the park give kids something to do wherever they are. Add in the ice skating show, Joe Cool Cafe, the petting farm, and the multitude of rides that can be enjoyed together and you have a magical place time.

My daughter started out mostly visiting the kids areas with her grandparents. My wife and I were off with my nephews riding the coasters during Monday morning.

At 2:00, we met up at the Good Times Theater and watched Snoopy's Big Bow Wow on Ice. The show was very energetic and featured some entertaining skating and music. Video screens are also used to show Snoopy in his cartoon form. This show is different from the ice show that I saw a couple years ago. The only costumed character is Snoopy. The rest of the skaters are just dressed as themselves. At one point in the show, the guys all wear Charlie Brown shirts, and the girls all have dark wigs and Lucy dresses. It is an entertaining number and the Lucy's are the hottest Lucy's that you've ever seen. Something fun for the fathers. Anyway, my daughter loved the show.

After the show was over, my wife and I took my daughter to the new Planet Snoopy Area. It is a nice new area, but it could use some more shade trees. Hopefully when the vegetation grows in better, that will be rectified. I doesn't seem to matter to the kids that most of these rides appear in other parts of the park. Having the area adds to the capacity of kids rides and makes is so that kids should never have to wait in long lines.

After my daughter took her rides in Planet Snoopy, we took her to Ocean Motion. She was a little nervous on the ride, but she did okay. She sat in between her mother and I in the middle row of the ride. She did not want to ride again, so we took her over to Disaster Transport for her first adult roller ride. Through the line, she was nervous and kept thinking that something scary was going to happen. She mentioned that the music in line sounds like Halloween. Anyway, we got on the ride. She sat next to her mother and behind her Grandma and Grandpa. I sat in front of all of them with my nephew. I cracked up during the ride because Grandma was screaming the whole way. I thought that my daughter would be scared from all the screaming, but she got off and said "I want to do that again" Seeing her reaction definately made me rethink my negative opinions of the ride.

We had an early dinner at the Midway Market. Then my daugher went with her Grandparents to see "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" She enjoyed the show very much. Then we rode the sky ride (which my daughter really enjoyed) and got off and rode Iron Dragon. My daughter was okay with this ride too, but did not like it as much as Disaster Transport. (She said that it swung her around too much).

After that, she spent some more time with Grandma and Grandpa and ended up watching the evening Spectacular or whatever it is called.

On Tuesday, my daugher had a great time in Soak City in the morning. Then I spent most of the rest of day with just her and I. My wife wasn't feeling well so she went back to the Maples to get some rest.

We rode Disaster Transport again. We also rode the Troika a couple of times, the Space Spiral, Sir Rub-a-Dub's Tub, Super Himalaya, Tilt a Whirl, and Woodstock's Express. The rest of the time, we spent in the kiddy areas, went on the sky ride again, and I was able to get on a few big rides with my nephews.

Spending this time with my new daughter was wonderful and it is a time that I will never forget. I can't wait until she is a little older and I can share her first real big rides with her.

...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!
