June 14th - Day of Downtime?

We arrive in the Soak City lot at about 9:05 A.M, and we notice a huge line full of resort customers. So I begin to think "greeeat". Crowds are in full swing....and well they were for the most part. You had to know when to say "to heck with that" and "heck yea".

We by pass the line stretching around Challenge Park because we are platinum pass holders and we have to sign in at a sheet in that "employees only" area at the Soak City ticket windows. Takes us all of 41 seconds or something to get in to the park. I wouldn't mind a separate line for season pass holders to enter the park.

I walk and I and go they must really want things running smoothly today because Top Thrill Dragster is already doing test runs....*glance at train*...Dragster is open! There are people on it right now! So we head to Dragster and wonder hmm I wonder whats broken now. Dragster sported a 20-30 minute wait in 9:00 A.M ERT.
Many things seemed to be open earlier than usual, and we went on and rode the Power Tower as it was also open and just around the corner from where we were at. Power Tower was a short wait (under 15 minutes) at this time.
We work our way to the back of the park to consider riding Maverick and other choices. We see Gemini is just opening so we get on the first Gemini train of the day (walk on). Than we head over to Maverick and notice a lot of people heading...away from Maverick. Well turns out Maverick has been down since Thursday at 6 PM the ride operator says.

So since we are in that general area we take up Skyhawk, and at this point in time with the crowds we are still making really good time in terms of getting rides.

Than we get to heading back down the park and see Magnum is open and ride that of course, and it is also a walk on as we we're one of the first trains of the day (rides we're opening before 10 A.M and at 10 A.M as well). Oddly enough at the end of the day 20 minutes before the park closes the sign for Magnum said it was closed. Hmmm...

From Magnum back down to Power Tower to a longer line, although this time we try the red tower to get shot up. Not as fun as the green. We did it to avoid the line.

We walk up to the front of the park now to take care of Maxair, Raptor, and Wicked Twister. Raptor had a 1 3/4th an hour wait, and we we're like heck no. So we ride Wicked Twister after we see MaxAir's queue is bursting out on to the Midway. Wicked Twister had a 20 minute wait or so, but I bet this eventually decreased as the crowds gradually got smaller in all the less popular rides as the day went along.

MaxAir did come next and it sported a nice 30 minute wait and a person getting sick on the ride so that made it take a little longer even. We head up to Millennium Force to grab a spot there and end up in a line a little over an hour long, and there were about 15 minutes of downtown during this period that Millennium Force had. Many people left the line, much faster than I have seen people disperse before.

Now that we are up to 2:00 PM and we are starving we go back to T.G.I Fridays. I have to say that it is tough to find waitresses at T.G.I Fridays who really know whats going on it seems. If you want drink refills, or anything else your usually finding waiters yourself that most of the time aren't even yours. People just seem a little confused, they just walk out with food plates and look for people with no food and say like "dragon chicken" or something and start looking at us to hand us food. Because these servers had no clue whose food they had. When they offer to seat us outside in a spot with an umbrella they say Oh yeah there is this really protective bird who attacks people by this seat. It has attacked me twice already, are you sure you want to sit there? Thanks for informing me yo. I don't go on vacation to get attacked by birds. We opt for a different seat...
There was no "how is everything tasting", and follow ups for drink refills really. No bird attacks, but as I left Fridays and walked by the front of Fridays. It attacked me real quick. My only thought is...why even offer to seat people at this table where birds attack people. Also we didn't sit at the "bird attack table". I was attacked by the bird as we were on the boardwalk leaving.

We almost hit a bird on Gemini total Fabio style as we ride Gemini again. Gemini still had a really short wait.
Magnum had up to 1/2 an hour waits occuring, but the Raptor, and Magnum crews really move people fast.

It is pretty hot out and the sun was brutal yesterday. Ride time for the Raptor by 9:00 PM was a 15 minute wait interestingly enough. Now we get on Raptor and my girlfriend and I are at the gate. What seats do you guys usually get if your the first two at the gate? Well the ones farthest over correct? We go to put our sandals in the bin, and come back to 2 of them thug people sitting on the ends of Raptor.
My girlfriend looks at me like WTF, and I am thinking hmm what to say or do here....
1) Since this guy obviously wants the seat (because he already has himself buckled in) and locked down. Should I spit on him, punch him, and then take his shoes that he had already got in the locker already, and watch him get pissed as I leave the ride? I decided not to...I just didn't want any trouble at CP. I should have told the ride operator hey my girlfriend and I want videos taken of us, and these chumps got on and just took whatever seats they wanted. It really annoyed us these guys. Very inconsiderate of them. But we just got on and rode the coaster. Hopefully they will be in prison soon (they looked like them kind of people who end up in prison). I guess what made me not do anything is I didn't want to hassle the guy and have him get pissed at me with his posse because I made him move and sit next to his boyfriend that he is obviously too embarrassed to sit by in public. I know it takes ride operators just seconds to release things and make them move or get off the line, but oh well. We go and ride MaxAir and than Raptor again...in the right seats after this thug incident.

During the day time we noticed TTD was down for an extended period of time, and at night time it went down for a few minutes also.

I noticed people were getting told no smoking left and right today. In fact in MaxAir's line someone was chewing tobacco. Which I don't care if they do if they spit in a cup (eww still), or in areas people don't walk. He wasn't doing any of that so a ride operator told him to stop, and he didn't. Thats when a police officer came and escorted him and his buddy out of the line. No clue what happened to the guy, but he was removed from MaxAir's line along with his buddy.

Maverick opens up in the evening around 7 PM and establishes a 1 1/4th hour long line. The launched tunnel had all of the normal lights on, and by normal I mean normal bright metal halide or something lights. As if people were still working on it. The lights we're on in the launched tunnel all night on Maverick. Hmmm? The water cannons were not working also if that makes a difference.

Also at about 6:00 PM Skyhawk went down as well, but by the end of the night it was up and running again.

It was a good day at the park though in the end. Despite the poor wait staff at TGI Fridays, and the Raptor thugs.
The Raptor thugs left me really ticked off because it's one thing to you know..have 2 people sitting on the other side of where they should be on the Raptor train, but to take the two end seats when your not even first in that line rubbed me wrong.

Also line jumping...we saw people being handled all the time it seemed like. Kids cut through that patch of land in between the TTD and the Magnum bathrooms (that we have all at one time wanted to cut through instead of running around that bend). And CP police goes after them in the TTD line....
A kid brings in 2 or 3 elephant ears in to the Maverick line and works his way up to where his pals are and a ride operator is chasing him down and he is removed.

I think if I would have complained...the ride operators would have swiftly dealt with the Raptor thugs. I have to give the ride ops props because it is hard to walk up face to face to someone at such a young age and try and have them follow your orders.
There was still smoking on the midway, not as bad as last year late summer. But there were police actually engaging people and telling them to put it out still.

We got tons of rides in on Magnum, Skyhawk, Power Tower, and MaxAir. We carried a backpack around all day and didn't feel like constantly renting a locker so we only rode MF and TTD once. If you were patient you could have got on most big rides in 30-45 minutes if you found them at the right time. Maverick at closing time (10:50) was a 30 minute wait, and we saw Millennium Force with 45 minute waits also.

I think by the time Maverick opened that the flow of people leaving the park and the opening of Maverick really got the crowds away from most of the other rides.

There was a Harley Davidson thing going on so there were a ton of bikers in town and Steak and Shake had a line out the door at midnight consisting of bikers, CP employees, and guests from CP.

Sandusky restaurants shoot themselves in the foot if they do not stay open at least 2 hours past park closing time.

Also if you can't do a job right, why even do the job? What am I referencing here now? Pizza at the point. If you can't even make pizza half good. Why not have a company like Sbarro's come in and offer some really good pizza that people will actually enjoy.
I am all for companies coming in and handling food for Cedar Point.......

And with that said...it was a warm day full of sunscreen at the point this Saturday. I think that this is our last trip that we will get "epic ride time in" as the crowds are out in near full force. The rides just didn't seem to want to work yesterday.

Besides a bit of downtime and those future convicts on Raptor ;) sounds like you had a great time! We were there when Maverick closed down around that time on Thursday. Right when we decided to go and ride it, we saw it was closed down. We should have waited for Raptor in the evening like you did too, because that 1 1/2 wait sucked. I also saw someone with a pack of chewing tobbacco behind me on MF. I am not sure if he started chewing it or not, but that is gross. Glad you had fun! :)

"You wanna, you gotta, you hafta hold on, Cedar Point...HOLD ON!"

Yeah...quite a bummer Maverick was down from 6 pm Thursday till 7pm Saturday.

Future convicts though, hah...with my idea of spitting on them, then punching them while they are locked in the raptor restraint isn't too smart of idea. Luckily I took the high road.

I was thinking of acting gay on the coaster and trying to hold his hand and scream very annoyingly the entire ride....
I couldn't think of anything more annoying then a gay person trying to hold my hand while screaming in my ear....

I can think of a few things more annoying. Middle school girls for example.

^^ lol that would be quite funny to see. I wonder what they would have done if you did that.

^ Yes, middle school kids are by far the most annoying!! Especially middle school couples.

It's a shame about the thugs, it really is.

Comments like that should be deleted, since entire discussions regarding that type of subject are also deleted. Taking the high road does not mean being rude and inconsiderate of those who may have a different sexual preference than yours...and there's nothing more annoying than someone who decides, joking or not, to make tasteless comments with no regard to anyone else.

My official response to this is;
Should I re-word it so it says I should have tried to hold his hand and screamed like a girl the entire ride and leave out the gay part.
Also should we quote this and make it more of an issue than it really is?

No one is being bashed here.
Nice job quoting it and making it an issue though so if someone was homosexual and didn't catch that part of the conversation they surely would if they see it quoted and twice on the web page.

Like me profiling these guys in Raptor as future prison convicts isn't as bad, because they dressed and looked a certain way.

If this escalates further then by all means I would ask Walt to delete the thread and let me make it again without the homosexual portion attached.

With the early entry you get with a platinum pass, I have heard TTD is not normally one of the rides that is operating before 10:00. Do you know, if you wanted to could you get in line for TTD before 10:00?

I'll be back!

Of course, you can wait outside the entrance until the ride opens.

TTD was substituted for Maverick being down. So TTD was ERT probably Friday and Saturday.

Some of the parks I have been to keep certain sections of the park closed until the exact hour the park is supposed to be open. Bush Gardens, VA will let you in slightly before opening, but not back to the rides until opening time.

I'll be back!

Making the assumption that people wouldn't catch it in the first place without my quoting it is making an assumption that most people here can't or choose not to read.

Your post rubbed me the wrong way, it was poorly worded, and thats the end of the story. Attacking me for having an opinion makes you out to be an ass, as discussion forums like this are precisely made for that type of conversation. If you don't like being called out, I suggest you delete your account and go somewhere else.

Moving on.

^End of the story? Moving on? Like you get to end it with your final words? You're clearly the bad guy in this thread with your ultra sensitivity. Just relax, you remind me of Juggalotus when he attacked me for saying Chinese eat tiger junk.. I guess my point is you are both terrible.

I think someone needs a nap, and a hug.....

I think they should sell naps at CP. Thirty minutes in a hammock for $7.95. They'd sell like hotcakes.

Hugs, of course, are always free.

So I guess you attacking him for having an opinion must make you an ass then, right? And since you have "moved on" you probably won't respond to this anyway.

Factory has invited me to go to CP with him on more than one occasion. Anyone who is willing to help someone else with their addiction, is not an ass in my book. :) lol

Sounds like you had a great time! I wish I could have been there with you! I wish I could live at CP...Are the free hugs still available, because I need some lovin'! A nap too... Hehehe!

Ashley

An inverted coaster is like a ski lift gone haywire!!

My e-posse attacked mk522....

The cost of gas has pushed the price of free hugs to .39 cents per free hug. yes thats 39 cents per free hug.
