It was an enjoyable couple of day at the point. We go to Sandusky and checked into the Breakers Express about 1230 and compared to the past it was quick, smooth, early, with no wait. Definate plus on that. We have stayed here before and it was ok, this time, it was ok, but the rooms and the the halls are showing age. The dressers were beat up pretty bad and the wall paper is peeling all over. I would say if there are other rooms in the area in a much cheaper off site motel, take it. Use this place as a Last resort until they update it or something. We were gonna stay at the Light House point, but that is getting way out of our price range, the Breaker's itself is setting out of our price range.
We headed to Chet and Matt's pizza for lunch/dinner before we used the starlight admission. Once we got to the park, the Lines were short, with walk ons both days. Shoot the rapids operated sporadically, Maverick was down most of the time, but Top Thrill was running just fine. Soak City was packed and the water was warm. We enjoyed the starlight experience it was peaceful and appealing to the eyes.
We were greated at resort gate several times be a very pleasant and infomative older(late 50's early 60s?) lady. She was going out of her way to help people, unlike the twenty something people that were with her at the gate on the 8th. She made sure everyone knew it was going to be hot, where to get water, and reminded them to keep hydrated. She told people what rides were going to be open for the ert and smiled and chatted with people when she could. It's touches like this that start a day out on postive note for us guest that probally go unnoticed. She was at the resort gate most of that day and she was just as peppy and pleasant every time we went through. It was very refreshing, especially since we did encounter one lady that couldnt speak very much english at at all and had a pad of paper with her to write down what you owed for the food you purchased.
Another Refreshing thing they had around the park were Meal deals with brats or hot doGS. The deals inmcluded the brat or hot dog, with fries and 16oz drink for just under $6.
Over all it was a Decent hot trip with low crowds low waits. I was pleasantly surprised on the ride waits. A little dissappointed that we could only get one ride in on the maverick, but from what I understand its rare for Maverick to be down as much as it was for us. In the past we have only seen it done for an hour at most. With that said, looks like it might be a while before we head back, unless there is an amazing deal or spectactular ride. Its been a few years since we have been to Kings Island so it might be time for a trip down there and combine it with our first trip to Holiday World if we can swing the time.
Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.
I went July 8th...it was 90 degrees all day, shoot the rapids was broken every time we got in line for it so we never got to ride it :( and it downpoured around 8pm. But on the bright side, we got through all the best rides and the longest wait was for TTD-only 40 mins :D it was a pretty funn day aside fromm the weather!
ride on.
