July 6th and 7th!

Woooooooooh!

Got three days off with a few of my work buddies and headed to CP for the first time since last October. Looking forward to the 6 hour drive out there, and I absolutely love waking up at 4am and hitting the road. The two guys I'm headed out there with have never been to the park, and I'm thrilled to see their reactions.

In any case, I'd like to hear some advice on things.

We're staying in the park for two complete days. Looking to arrive around noon on Tuesday (the 6th), spend a full day in, then head to the Thirsty Pony at night.

ERT is a no-go for us on either day, and since it's their first time in the park I don't want to let them down. Should I start them off on something smaller, but still uniquely CP and fantastic; like Blue Streak? Or should I go right for the headliners?

Also, the last week or so the weather channel and accuweather were predicting scattered T-storms on both days (I'm never worried about this), but now they've since changed their forecasts. Do people typically plan out a week in advance or so in the area by looking at the forecast? I'm really hoping that these days will be pretty open and not crowded, but I'm sure a lot of people also have this mindset. I know the rules in this forum somewhat forbid asking how crowded it's going to be, but there is a lot of variables, and I'd just like to hear some opinions/reassurance.

Thanks guys!

I say start out small, because all the roller coasters are fantastic. Make sure you get a ride on Magnum, Millennium, Maverick, Top Thrill Dragster, and Raptor. These are all amazing rides and shouldn't be missed.

I am not from Cleveland or Detroit, (there main markets) but they usually go if there is no rain planned 1-3 days in advance. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are great days to go in the mid week. It will be crowded, but all you have to do is make sure to get on Millennium first thing when in the park, ride Raptor at 2-3pm, Dragster before noon, and Maverick at 9:55 at night. Maverick is almost always going to have a 75-90 minute wait. Thats why I always hit it at night and park in the Soak City lot so I don't have to walk all the way back. Magnum never has a wait over 30 minutes so do that in the most crowded part of the day.

You should definitely be fine Tuesday. Sunshine and warm, temps in the upper 80s it looks like to me.

Wednesday looks like it could have some storms, but still marginal and nothing severe. It will be a lot more humid on Wednesday though.

Ben, don't know when you changed your avatar, but it's nice to see I'm not the only red shirt around here. ;)

haha that's been my avatar for like a year I think. I'm standing in front of a Tornado in Western Nebraska on June 5, 2009.

high of 95 degrees today with record breaking humidity and heat index. There is a heat advisory on local TV stations (Toledo) & social networking advising people to 'stay inside'.

In other words, head to Soak City/Shoot The Rapids/Thunder Canyon/Snake River Falls.

Don't know how I missed it, Ben!

We are going to be there the 7th and 8th. We are doing the starlight pass the 7th then the ride and slide on the 8th. Never been to soak city and my kids and Soon-to-be wife have never ever ridden any water rides at Cedar Point. So Thursday morning after the early hour entry its water rides galore then heading to Soak City then later in the evening back to the park. I love Ben's Forecast by the way and if your not watching his chaser cam your missing out.Who else is gonna be there on the 7th and 8th and where are you stayin?

Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.
