They were better than Opening Day, which were just awful, but I don't think they were quite as good as last year's July 4th or Opening Day fireworks.
For anyone that didn't get to see them:

As I said last year, the 4th of July fireworks at CP are a pale comparison of what they used to be. The "Grand Finale" this year only lasted about 45 seconds maybe a minute. Back in the mid 80's they used to have a pre-finale of about 2-3 minutes followed by the Grand Finale that lasted about 5 minutes or more.
It's not like CP does real fireworks every night. You think for America's birthday they could splurge a little, but they do have "unit holders" to make happy now.
Also Sandusky does not have a fireworks display. They just glam off CP.

Disappointed??The person from OnPoint absolutely loved the display and T&T said it was one of the best ever.
Perhaps it was her first time seeing fireworks... or the outside world..
I didn't watch the show this year, but I have the last two. Each year I think it gets a bit less. But I can tell you it is a pale comparison to thunder over louisville.

FYI...Zambelli puts on both shows
Sure it's a money thing but it would be nice if they put a bit more money toward it.

Yeah, I found the 2006 show here in 4 parts.

Yeah I stood just about 1,000 feet south of Disaster Transport in the parking lot watching the fireworks last night and it was a great show...especially the ones that shot out TOWARDS the onlookers in the parking lot...it was scary yet oddly funny. Oops! All in all a good show.
Didnt leave the park 'til almost 12:45am, and then was stuck on the Chausee. Good thing that drunk people were entertaining us on the side of the road!! :)
I work with Zambelli every year (not at Cedar Point) and there are a few things I can add.
Regulations governing fireworks shows have changed a lot during the past few years. Although it is a state to state issue I'm sure there are similarities.
One significant ruling in Florida is that you now have to have 100 foot safe zones per each "inch" sized shell. So, for the most impressive 10" shells you have to have 360 degree safe zones of 1000 feet.
If the fireworks are still shot off down by disaster transport then I'm sure they are limited to the size of the shells they can utilize in the show.
Now, that shouldn't effect the length or pace of the show even when using smaller shells but it may give the appearance of a less impressive show.
We had a 23 minute show with fireworks that didn't stop. We had at least 2-3 in the air at a given time and a grand finale that had 10,000 people on their feet applauding. That show cost us $35,000. It is no New York City show but that is a lot of money for a smaller community.
Could Cedar Point do more? Probably. Would it be worth the added expense? Probably not.

I love fireworks last year I bought $200 worth of fireworks for the 4th. But this year due to a drought we can't even buy fireworks let alone shoot them off.
New Season of 'The Office'. TONIGHT!!!
DB and all that live in Ohio, darn you for getting your pictures up so soon! ;) I have around 250 total, but am just now getting them uploaded since I didn't get home until 2:45 this morning after leaving right after the fireworks (I thought I was back in Dallas during rush hour). Then I actually had something to do today from 9-4, so yeah, I don't get my pics up as quick as I wish I could.
As for the fireworks, I thought they were awesome. I'm a bit of a pyro, so any fireworks display is going to satisfy me. :) And they were shot off from the beach this year. The trucks were pulled up against the trees all day and they had a platform going through the trees into the beach area. It was rather funny with all of the car alarms going off around me.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
I was looking forward to shooting fireworks last night, both for a client and, if it worked out, PointBuzz. Alas, something came up and it didn't work out. Been too much real life this year. :)

Well, when you can get home from the park in 45 minutes, and have nothing better to do... ;)
